Team 10 Thread

Something crazy is happening tonight. I finally talked my wife into going hunting with me! Its a super warm evening 70 degrees so not sure if we will see anything but she is gonna use my old kestrel while I hang next to her in the Dryad. Gonna use my old Bullman climbing steps too instead of a one stick. Learning curve would be a bit much for her on that. Wish us luck y'all. Maybe ill be able to switch out my spike for a nice buck tonight and we won't be in last place any more. hahahah.

The theme of my season so far has been Watch Your Back. Twice I have had shooter bucks slip directly behind me at 6:O'Clock. Both times within 50 yards, and had my muzzleloader. By the time I heard them and got turned around, shot opportunity was marginal and I didn't take it. No response to calls. The positive, I have the buck I missed during archery on camera, and have found his main travel route, lots of daytime video from a week ago. Don't know if he's still using this route now, since camera died on the 10th. It's general firearms season now here in VA, which means hounds are running all over the place. It's now a crap shoot, right place right time type of deal. Still hitting the woods everyday, hopefully one of the two shooters I have been seeing come my way... Congrats to all that have been having success! Wish me luck...

Good luck. Rifle opener here in TN today. couldn't make it out this morning but I will be out this afternoon. Public will be getting absolutely pounded for the next week through thanksgiving weekend. After that I will have the woods to myself again. Still have one buck tag left that I am hoping to fill with a nice one.

I got 1.more day on this hunt.... Lots of scouting. I'm huntin for the big magnolia rubber buck... Never seen him but I have a 200yd rub line of pretty big magnolias he seems to prefer. dude you found a ton of sign! Wish you had gotten the deer that goes along with it

Acorn in pretty much every oak and all the gallberry fully berried....when they can bed pretty much anywhere and food is pretty much everywhere is hard to pattern....I've been sitting on heavily used trails and transition lines.... I've been in the marsh, up in the oaks hammocks, in the cedars, in the swamp..... There is so much sign everywhere im having trouble focusing

I’ve been running into that same issue nearly every oak is dropping acorns and every berry bush or tree has blossomed including palmetto berries. Tons of water, plenty of bedding and food all over. Add in the wind switches directions and it’s 70 degrees or above makes for a tough season

As bad as I hate to say it
I got into a blind today
Low temps and driving ran
Seamed like a better option than staying home
But still haven’t seen anything

Congrats! Way to overcome some adversity and get on the board!
Took my daughter out this morning. I was trying to get her a deer and this guy walked by me five minutes after I was set up. He would have been perfect for her but I'll take the venison. This is the second time this has happened (Thanksgiving morning 2019) . . . . maybe I should make her come hunting with me more often. :tearsofjoy:

Like majority of my quota hunts I get into deer on the end of day 3....sheesh

Climbed and sat this morning and a group of small hogs ran through before shooting time. Didn't see anything and got down and went looking for the pigs. I'd move and they'd move over and over until I finally kinda catch up at a small flag pond..I drew the bow twice but never got a shot... Made it back to the truck and ate some lunch. Changed locations and started poking around. I found a little piece of high ground that juts out into a freshwater marsh. I heard 2 buck grunts out in the marsh but never seen him. That's only the second time I've ever heard a real live buck grunt.... Half hour before sundown a single doe came out and fed around on the point under my tree and then 4 more showed up single file 15yds broadside. Shooting light passed and I could hear them walking around. I decided to give myself a little challenge and see if I could get down and packed up without alerting them... Waited till I couldn't hear them and down and pack and go without a blow or the sounds of a deer running off

That's it for deer season on that wma but I'll be back out for small game... The military base archery blocks open tomorrow so I have a place to deer hunt until end of January
