I'm struggling even to see deer so far. Hopefully I'll get some action going so I can do my part for the team.

Just got back from a scouting trip and the least sign we've ever seen. Walked over 10 miles of edge and found 5 scrapes, maybe 10 rubs on small trees only, and 6 beds, none of which I would say were bucks. The big deer are there but the weather and drought has activity suppressed so far.

Trying to get the wife to ok a weekend out of state hunt so far I'm loosing the battle. I'll give it a weekend of me spending to much time around the house. She'll probably send me by then lol.

My wife was pissed yesterday because i was gone on a scouting trip and I didn't tell her till Sunday night. Not mad because I went just that she didn't have the holiday like me, but would have called in sick to have the day to herself. She's already asking when I'm leaving again.

I hunted before the rain this morning but didn't even see a squirrel.

Finally saw a deer while on stand last night. Drew back on her but decided to pass as the shot was marginal. Too many branches between us. Hoped others would follow her out but nothing showed. Tough season so far.

I did my first morning sit of the year. Bumped a deer walking in. Only saw one little spike about 100 yards away. It was a slow morning. I set up on that buck bed I've been hunting. Hoping to catch up to him coming back. But he was a no show. Hopefully he cycles back to this bed at some point this season.
