Do you guys have a telescoping pole saw you like? I’d like something that I could keep in my pack (maybe foldable down to 2-3’…) so if I see something I need down during a hang and hunt I can take it immediately.

I haven't seen anything as convenient as the Hooyman saws. I had the 10' version until this spring, ( broke the saw/pole connection). It's maybe a little long for taking every hunt, something like 30". They make a 5' version of you think that's all you may need. I fully intend to replace it this Spring. I do wish the blade was just a couple inches longer though.

Hooyman makes that 5'r. That's all I've seen. Don't think I would want to regularly carry it hunting though. I've got a 25''r for pre setting trees. I have carried it to the tree If I know something that HAS to go when I get in a tree, Generally I take my folding saw with me. If I can't reach it w/ my saw, I tie my paracord bow rope to it and then flip it over the branch in good spot where it will get hung up and give it good pull. Works good on small dead branches. There have been a bunch of times where this paid off w/ a dead deer or I passed deer standing right in the shooting lane that I opened up. Including twice this year. You'll be surprised with what you can get away with. I have also tied my saw to a dead branch and used it an an extension to reach a branch that needs to be cut.

I've got the short Hooeyman. It's heavier and bulker than I want to have in my pack, but it's stout and sturdy and strong and a pretty decent saw. I keep a smallish GearTie wrapped around the handle so I can twist it into a hook in case I need to untangle a throwline or grab a branch to trim or advance my tether over a branch or whatever. It's not a super sturdy hook but if you use it within its limits it's quite useful.

I bought a 14’ hooyman 3 years ago and it’s already taken down a mile or more of tree limbs. It is about 6-7’ long at its most compact but its telescoping mechanisms are great. The saw is sharp and takes a beating. I’ve bent mine into taco shapes trying to get it unstuck and it bounces right back to true, never chipping a tooth or losing a screw.
