It seems Rotating around the tree seems to work better with small diameter trees like what has been shown in most videos.

The technique in the video of rotating with the bar on the tree is not the most effective way to do it. Just stand up like a regular saddle and walk around it. Much quieter and less noticeable to deer IMO.

Sometimes. Sometimes not. Depends on the tree, your platform, cover, wind, deer alertness, user size and shape.

the fork is an incredibly effective way to control your weight and position on the tree. Saying otherwise is nonsense. But yes, there are scenarios where it makes more sense to lean and make a move.

I still don’t understand why some folks see such a difference between how to use the hybrid and soft saddle. There are some differences at the margins that make sense, but it’s really no different. Mental gymnastics more arboreal ones…

I’ve spent some more time in it and have done some more shooting out of it as well. I’m a fan for sure. Took a little bit to get used to using the fork, but I think this will be my go-to now.

I have used the guidos web saddle for 11 years. Pretty sure i am telling it like it is. I use a ROS, dont mess with a platform. If i wanted to hang a platform I would just hang a stand in the first place. I have killed lots of deer from a saddle. The best benefit of the fork is sitting and taking your weight off the tree. Much more comfortable. I have never taken a single shot with the bar against the tree using the Guidos web version. This is counting close to 40 deer killed from it with a bow.

These are my mods to the original Guidos Web Saddle. I am sure some of these would benefit the JX3 as well. However, I have never used the JX3 myself. (disclaimer)

The most important part of learning to use the JX3 is to just get out there and make mistakes.
There is no checklist that will give you all the answers, experience is the best teacher.

I’ve shot deer out the web and the hybrid sitting and standing. Just like a soft saddle.

I havent done a full statistical group size analysis to prove it, but I swear my groups are tighter from the JX3 vs ground shooting, maybe because the lower 2/3 of your body is locked into something very stable.

Totally agree with this. Anchor points from a web saddle are rock solid!!

Just broke my second JX3. As I was one sticking I leaned back and heard a loud crack. The plastic frame for back rest has a huge crack in it now. Second year in a row with cracked JX3. Luckily, Im hunting private for first time in 5 years. I went back and grabbed flex saddle and LWHC as I am done with the JX3 and this 1-Sticking show. Just got in tree and realized how much crap I forgot that was set up on my JX3 or at home. No back rest for flex, no stupid knee pads, forgot gear holder so my stuff is hanging for dear life on a dead limb and my back is already hurting from the soft saddle. My question is can I give my spot to a particular person that joined the hunting teams too late? There is a guy from Arkansas that would love to be on Team 14 as Im 100% going back to my Summit Titan Climber after several years of foolin around.
I will add, I am 6’5” 245lbs and dont climb with gear as I pull it all up at height. But Maybe Im still too big for the JX3

What you are saying worries me about switching to a soft saddle from my guidos web. I have a tethrd menace with the recliner strap on the way. I will probably be staying with my web im afraid! But, im willing to give it a chance anyway. If you can find an OG quidos web, grab it. Mine are super tough. I cant see how any part of it could break. JX3 changed the design some and jacked up the cost it appears. I guess the quality suffered too.
