tethrd one stick 2.0 vs tree ninja 20 inch carbons?

Threw it on a couple small trees. I don’t think it will be a problem for me.

(Also, another look at the bolt depth)

what diameter bolt? What’s the length of thread engagement? It should be at minimum the diameter of the bolt in thread engagement length. Going beyond that doesn’t do much. Aluminum a slightly different animal though, might make sense to run a little extra.

I don't think it's going to be a problem, but I don't know why they wouldn't run the bolts flush.

My question to the OP would be why do you want or need to get that high?
I hunted 4 states this year from the Northeast to the Midwest to the deep south. I never had the need to get higher than 16ft which is easy with 4- 20" sticks and a knaider. As Saddle hunters we are supposed to use the tree for cover, no need to get very high.

I'm not the OP but I have plenty of scenarios where I hunt in the Northeast where it's beneficial to get higher. It's rare for me to be sub 20'.

Hunting ridges or sloped terrain where you can find yourself eye height with deer on the top.

Late season swamps with no leaves, small trees, where you want to get up to a crotch for more cover.

Natural points for getting best clearance or shooting over branches from adjacent trees or over tall brush on the ground and into more shooting lanes.

If that's where the best cover is, I also just want to be higher. Using the tree for cover is all good until a deer sneaks in behind you when you're not paying attention.

Heck, I should probably consider getting 5 api aluminum sticks, cutting the posts down to 4 inches and adding a lone wolf batwing to each and just rocking 1 double step on each. I'd have to move the button though.

Did you try it yet? I assembled a Helium like this. Hope to try it tomorrow.

whipped up a proof of concept with stuff I had laying around. This weighs 1.2 lbs. Worked real good after a quick test. Could benefit from a bit more length for stability. Will play around with this some more. Probably make a square tube version.

Timber Ninja had a model like this. I don't know what happened to that model, there were some on classifieds not too long ago (10" stick, 14oz).

Also, OOAL Shikar mini sticks, still available. Same thing.

You would want to use this with a Versa Aider?

Sean of Sean's outdoors had a one standoff cut LW thing, that ultimately was generally thought of as unsafe.

I'm looking at these two photos and I see a platform. Rest your feet on the pegs when leaning yet still allows you to stand vertically on it when necessary. I wonder how it holds up to side loading?

Timber ninja called them the C1 micro. I tried to order some last fall and he said they discontinued them because they were not big sellers. But I saw were they would have a place but as is the case most of the time, money talks.

Yes, my next version would be like the TN or OOAL. I figure if they landed on 10” that is a good starting point. What I wonder about is why they put the step on the bottom. I’m thinking to put in the middle. They might pack better if the the step is on the bottom though
My plan is to use 4 with webbing knaider/swaider.
The Sean’s Outdoor method doesn’t appeal to me because it doesn’t seem stable or perhaps as universal as a “stick”.

sure! Dunno that I would with Heliums though. I don’t love the way they take side loading.

If you swapped the long stand-off for a short one, that would reduce the amount of rolling that would occur during side loading.

I suppose if you were using it as a one sticking stick, you'd want it on the bottom.

So tethrd is updating the one stick.. what about all the consumers from last year who bought the first gen junkers? Screw em?
There's way more problems to them than glue. Definitely one of the worst sticks I've ever used for a myriad of reasons

All the new treestands, platforms, sticks are great but they’re not being field tested like they need to be. As a consumer I’ve stopped buying the first gen of anything new until it gets into the hands of the masses and reviews start coming out.

I know about the glue, patent pending chemical welding process, that is not really needed. What other issues?

Not really needed? The pin was just there to align the step for their bonding process. Now we are to believe that the floppy step is fine just rocking on the pin?…. :tearsofjoy:

There has also been pin/rivet failures of the dynalock tab where it slides up the stick surely not pretty when it happens.

Well… they set a precedence with the Gen 1 predator failures. I wouldn’t expect them to handle the sticks any different.
