Tethrd One Stick Gen 3's - Season review so far

I have been using 5 sticks no aiders.. I have an aider I don’t use but I it’s only 2 lbs to bring more sticks and I would rather do that than messing with aiders.

I have a question about these to everyone that has them. Are you at all concerned about they way the step is attached to the tube? Do you think it will hold up long term? It looks like a rivet in the pictures. Just wondering before I order them.

They advertise 15.9 ounces with the ropes. I just got mine in and stealth stripped last night. They feel shockingly light. I do not have a scale accurate enough to do a proper weigh in.

I see the 15.9 oz weight, just not how heavy a load they are rated to hold. They're light no doubt.

I just purchased a 3-step G-C-ONE Aider from Backwoods Mobile Gear, https://www.backwoodsmobilegear.com/shop-online/gc-one. I expect to easily get 20+ feet with 3 sticks.

I'm hoping this will replace my 1-stick climbing system. I still wish they would make a platform for the Tethrd One Sticks.

Might take some practice. I thought the aider was very unstable and wanted to twist to the side. I since went with the single step version that is adjustable. It seems pretty decent.

This is more true than I hoped. I have struggled the first 4 times I have used the GC-ONE Aider. Going up is OK, a little tricky descending. One of the issues with the One Stick is that there is really nothing to grab onto when descending, the Beast Sticks are easy to hold onto when climbing down.

I'm hoping it will get easier with a little more practice.

For me, when I use the 3 step it’s not leaving stick #1. The One’s just done have enough stand off room from the tree to give me confidence in my footing on an aider. In fact, after trying it a couple times I just opted for a 5th stick.

To me, it’s the 3rd step coming down that’s tricky… if the trees at an angle it’s not good at all. I just got a 2 step GC aider. I’m thinking it’ll be more stable with just the 2 steps, and possibly use it on the first 2 sticks.

I find it hard to stack in the dark and I have busted up my knuckles taking them apart at the tree. I am using vasoline on the pegs but getting them aligned in the dark takes some tinkering.

I use these. Way better than the pegs… you use the bottom pegs only, then snap the top into the clip. They’re not 3d printed anymore. It’s a solid piece.
