Tethrd Skeletor Sticks

Please post your comments/ questions regarding shipping timelines in this thread.

i think one of the selling points is that includes the attachment method, whereas many sticks are advertising weight without the attachment method.

By selling point you mean from the marketing side and YouTube commercials. For the consumer is it really that big a deal or a decision point? I don’t even count the cam buckle weight because it goes straight in the misc gear drawer.

I count it. Tired of buying stuff then having to mod it and pay more money to do so. The cam cleats, amsteel rope containment system and stacking method is what made me sell four of my Beast Sticks to get these.

Good point. I just use the stock strap without the cam buckle on everything.

Anyone know if their platform weights include attachment method as well?

The Tethrd sticks don’t have a cam cleat. it’s just a cleat.

Got the skeletors today. Immediately took them outside and climbed a tree. So simple to use and a lot nicer being able to neatly store your ropes and stack them together without an additional strap. Also if you like to carry them with a sling like I do you can just walk up to the tree take one off start climbing take another one off and repeat. No need to set them down unstrap and unstack them hang one then grab another. Plenty of foot room and stick to the tree really well. I’m glad I sold my Beast Sticks for these, smaller carrying profile also.

I received mine as well today:

I want to start out by emphatically stating that I am a fan of Tethrd stuff and will be using Skeletor sticks. BUT, I have to send this set back.

Before I get to why? The customer service experience that I have had today has been top notch. 10/10. Phone was answered quickly. Return shipping label emailed immediately. And the replacement sticks were said to be shipped today.

Here is the story:
The package arrived and everything was packed well, no issues.

I unpacked everything. Came with the 4 sticks stacked. A small bag of replacement pins and the instructional manual. (They should throw in a sticker! )

Pulled the first stick off from the stack. The retention pins almost work to good. This is a really good system. I unwound the rope and placed it on a tree. Easy. Quick. Quiet. Awesome.

I went ahead and put my saddle on and was going to climb a tree for practice with the new sticks. Had my son out there to throw me the sticks as went up. He handed me another stick and I unwound the rope until the last wrap. It wouldn’t come off the retention button. Perplexed, I examined further and the rope was underneath the button where it attaches to the stick. So tightly that neither I or my son could pull it out. All three of the remaining sticks were this way.

My first thought was that I was going to have to get an allen key and loosen the button to release the rope, but as I thought about it I become concerned with the integrity of the rope where it had been pinched very very tightly underneath the button. I elected to call customer support and they did not hesitate to agree and rectify the situation. (Again, very impressed with the support)

I’ll include some photos so you can see what I’m talking about.

Now, I absolutely do not discourage anyone from purchasing these sticks. After the support experience I’m even more inclined to buy something from Tethrd. These sticks will rock.

Such a clean, streamlined setup and lighter than the Muddy Pros I’m running now. I’m excited to run with these things. The purpose of the post is to advise anyone who may have a similar situation to call customer support. They were excellent.

2 photos of the issue. 1 photo to see the standoff. 1 photo of the stick stuck to the tree. Bites hard.

Again, almost everything I have is Tethrd. This is not to bash in any way. I’ll continue to use their products.

They specifically said they would send new sticks and not ropes because they have to torque the button to spec.

Modification question for those that own these sticks:

Would it be possible to lower the top set of folding sticks about 4”? That would allow the steps to be flush with the top of the stick when they are in the folded position, and potentially lower the overall profile for packing/stacking.

(The trade off would be a slightly shorter step to step distance and perhaps different loading characteristics when considering the overall strength profile of the stick: IE - instead of being above the stand-off, your weight would be below the stand-off, which shifts the load from the stand-off to the main post/channel.)

Pretty sure one of the advertised features was the ability to put the step spacing to your liking. One of the early testers mentioned that in their release video.

If you have wider feet. This may be an issue. The step is not real wide.

Right. If anyone has lowered the top steps, maybe they could post a picture of how they look when stacked and the foot room.
