Accepting you? Did we vote on it???
Just kidding welcome. I hope you have some extra coin, the rabbit hole can get deep.

Welcome from Michigan!

Keep an eye on the classifieds, some good deals to be had if you're patient. Also look for a meet up, it's a great way to meet like minded people and try gear before you spend on stuff

Saddle hunting has made me a better bow hunter and made me understand how to setup and kill more effectively.

With a saddle, I go for concealment more (even if lower to the ground) and instead of trying to setup so I can shoot a bunch of different spots, I simplify and focus on what I think is going to happen and then make sure I'm set up well for just that scenario.

I killed the biggest buck of my life this year, and I think in a regular stand he would've spotted me. In a saddle, I was hidden behind the tree until the very last minute. This also helped me because instead of staring at him and getting more and more nervous....I just stared at the tree and waited.

I can also sit in a saddle all day and change my position here and there and get down without being physically and mentally tired/hurting. Regular stands always made me go stir crazy after 6 hours for some reason. I'd get this claustrophobic feeling like "I'm 20 feet up sitting in a chair strapped to a tree and I can't move....I don't like this....it's weird".

Thanks for the feedback. Still waiting on some gear to come in but should have a nice setup soon. Goal is really to try and get comfortable / practice with a climbing system and setup this year to be able to roll with it next year. Practice shooting from a saddle…
Love how this brings a little different aspect to deer hunting and I like tinkering / tweaking things, so I already see that seems to be a big part of saddle hunting! Keeps it fun!

As others said classifieds are your friend. A lot of us are gear junkies and we’re constantly buying and selling. You can usually find some deals and if nothing else save on taxes and shipping.

Welcome!!
