How do you like the tarahumara? Seems more practical for the whitetail woods i hunt. Thanks
It’s my go to pack for several things. Carries well and Holds enough for the tree stand. Really keeps you from overpacking. Can also carry platform and sticks using the compression straps.
I also use the Tara insert for some organization and structure for the pack.

I have a Tarahumara as well, and for short hikes its fantastic! Super comfortable, low profile and with the compression straps and cargo panel, it'd be ideal for saddle hunting with a platform and climbing sticks from a vehicle. My hunting situations are usually a couple miles back in for elk, so the extra stuff I need for bagging, quartering, and hanging an elk require the Umlindi.

I usually hunt a few hundred yards from the road up to 1 mile deep. The truck and help are never 2 far away. Seem perfect for me. Let me know if you think of getting rid of it. Thanks for the response

I won't be getting rid of the Tara anytime soon. I'm a pack junky, but they all seem to fit a particular niche with me. Its probably my number 2 used pack. You'll love it. The yoke suspension system is crazy in what kinda weight you can put on them without a belt.

If I was packing deboned whitetail out, I’d be using the Umlindi with their Prairie belt. That combo is probably my favorite for a heavy load that I’ve tried from them. I just don’t get to put that type of gear to good use anymore.

Like how modular their products with each other.

I keep looking for a pack that looks reasonable with the JX3 (aiming for low weight), and would also work for a hunt with my conventional saddle, so no major swapping of gear from one pack to another. This looks like it might fit the bill!

Take a look at the Horn Hunter Full Curl Combo as well. Thats the exact reason I bought mine. It has a day pack that easily detaches and you can put all you items for both styles in that bag, and your items for conventional saddle in the other side bag wings/pockets. Then when its a JX3 day, just pull the day bag off and go.

I scrolled thru about 250 posts and couldn't believe no ones using a Hill People Gear Umlindi! Hill People packs are a USA company with every right to be in the top 5. My personal top five in no order are Kifaru, Hill People gear, Stone Glacier, Mystery Ranch, and Kuiu.

You can take that Kifaru brand straight to the garbage can. I’ll NEVER support that company because of the tool bag that runs that operation. Yes, I’m talking about Aron Snyder.

He's definitely full of himself. But I've never hauled loads out like I can with Kifaru equipment. I use what works, not what name brands cool at the moment.

Here’s what I’m carrying in my MR Pintler during the Blacktail rut. I do go pretty deep (like 4-6 miles in one way) which means i quarter out and cape my kills so I’m using a light loadshelf with good frame support.

The new Sitka Toolbucket is still a great pack. The only real difference is it does not have a belt but it does carry great. Personally, not having that belt is great in the tree. I carried mine yesterday with 4 beast sticks and a Mission platform and it was no problem.

Do you carry the mission on the outside of inside of the pack? I use bolts, but do have a mission. Looking hard at the tool bucket.

outside of the pack. I prefer to climb SRT and if so I strap the mission to the outside with the two straps. If I’m also carrying my beast sticks, I strap the Mission and beast sticks together using Titan straps and then strap that bundle to the pack with the two pack straps.

Hi all just recently got the Eberlestock H31 Bandit, anyone else running this and have a better idea for stick attachment?

Nope. I couldn’t find a good attachment option for sticks with the bandit other than what you have. Only other option is sandwiching the sticks with the beaver tail, but it may end up putting too much weight too far from your back. I ended up hand carrying my LW minis when I ran that pack.

Appreciate it. I thought I saw a post on here once of a guy running them vertically somehow. I could of swore he had them run into the side pockets and then used the molle loops to secure at the top... I tried that though, and thought I was going to rip the pockets trying to get them in.
