I think this guy was messing with me, but when I was asking for advice leading up to my first season a co-worker went into graphic detail to describe how to "core out" a deer. It involves sticking your left index finger up the anus, then using it as a guide as you cut around it with the knife in your right hand. The butt-out tool was a more attractive option to that technique. Needless to say I don't use either technique today.
Lol my Grandpa used to tell people to stick his finger in and cut around it as well. He was definitely trying to get you to put your finger in a deer's butt

Has anyone tried the Trophyline Sumpter yet?
I just got one for Christmas. Seems super durable and has everything I could need for packing in for all day sits or packing out an animal it seems. Plan on doing lots of trial runs this off season to get the setup right

Anyone here been using a Kuiu Pro 2300 or Pro Lt and liking it?

I got one because I loved the Venture 2300 but I wanted the frame to haul meat. The Pro 2300 has all the same features plus a few extras that I like. I also think the frame suspension and waist are the most comfortable I’ve tried. My stick with it is it sticks up high (to the center of the back of my head) because of the load lifters. The bag is more slender and tall than it is wide so it navigates through thick stuff well, but I have this feeling that I’m extra over killing for 97% of my hunts.

I’m 6’2” and the regular load life would be 2” shorter but that might throw off the geometry when I actually really need the lifters. I’m at 45 Deg right now so I think I’m at the bottom of this frame and would be at the top of the other. Anyone with a lot of pack experience please weigh in.

Here’s where the equation gets tricky. I bought a PRO LT 5000 bag for backpacking and possible elk hunting in the next couple years. So I like the thought of having one do it all frame, exchange pack as needed, but I don’t see myself keeping the whole system if I don’t use the frame and 2300 for whitetail.

For a tad more minimalist set up I’ve considered using the lid from the LT, in conjunction with the pack load hauler. But that’s dumping another $40 into a system I may not like.

If anyone has a picture of your KUIU pro set up for whitetail could you share. I’d also like to see pictures of the pack hanging from the tree if you got em.

Thanks!
