My God.. not all deer have droopy ears,
BUT all deer with their skull caps cut out do
And apparently, all of mitch’s deer as well...just sayin
here’s another example , of how easy it is to swap a real rack, with a replica.
another taxidermist, but Marc Anthony does better work..IMO
The offer still stands son...Yeah he has problems we got into it in a DM
Since you do taxidermy, you must know about the DOZENS of examples of bucks shot on film and by average joes that had droopy ears right?
I kinda thought the same thing...if their ears are always hitting their own antler wouldn't they naturally over time hang thier ear lower and lower... And hitting over time building up scare tissue may add mass that the muscle can't support as well, like u said...I do completely see your point about the pattern of his bucks having drooping ears, and it is a good one. Could it be something to do with the wide frame? Other bucks antlers can much more easily get in and destroy the ear cartilage than a typical/tight spread?
My father has killed most of his bucks in the same piece of woods over 50 years of hunting and you can distinctly pick out the 2 gene pools amongst all the racks over 5 decades. It's crazy and such a cool thing to see!I kinda thought the same thing...if their ears are always hitting their own antler wouldn't they naturally over time hang thier ear lower and lower... the area my parents live has lots of deer. They aren't scared and it is normal to see 20 if u go on a walk in the neighborhood. There used to be just a handful that had very black legs. It's not mud, the hair is dark brown to black....now years later u don't seem very many regular color leg deer. If the gene is there in the "herd" then it's not surprising to me to see bucks with similar characteristics all killed around the same area
One things for certain..... If I'm ever lucky enough to shoot a deer like that, I'm gonna pin its damn ears up for all my photo ops. It won't be tinkering with the antlers, just the ears. no P&Y or B&C rules on ears are there?
