@skell you have been already a beginners god send thank you for your knowledge and active participation with getting my feet wet lol!!

Funny ,theres my moms old singer sewing machine sitting in a closet in my dads house not seeing the light of day for the past 40 or so years since she died. Maybe I need to resurrect it. Iv'e actually hand sewn some tears in my hunting clothes over the years. Maybe I do need to join the sewing circle.

So really how do you determine the tension and or stitch length? Is there a universal setting or is this just all trial and error?

Trial and error. I had to adjust tension when I switched threads, needles or material (or thickness/layers of material). Just use some scrap material the same you'll be going through and test out a few seams to make sure you're not getting bunching/loose loops, and then you're good with that setup until you have to switch anything.

Happy to help! Hopefully it helps save you some of the headaches I've had during my learning curve.

Ok people. Time to get in touch with your feminine side. Say it out loud with other people in the room so they can hear you......."Sewing machine".

For the longest time I thought there was some new super duper sewing machine out there that was called a thread injector. I was picturing this gas powered motor and a hardened needle that could even go through metal :)

I'm not ashamed! My machines are even listed under my signature!

Me too. I thought it was a brand of sewing machines for the longest time.

But I get such a chuckle out of people when I tell them I was thread injecting and then have to explain what that it means . . .

I don’t do my eyebrows but i have been known to thread the needle with a stick and string before!!

I went to Jo-Ann and bought Gutermann 100% Polyester Thread. Will that work for sewing straps for spur mods?
