What packs are most of you gents using in the tree if any? I know sone of you use a larger pack hiking in and ditch that for a smaller pack.

Just want to form a good buying decision before anything is bought. I, as most of us do not have the $$$ that &g2 has. :tearsofjoy:

Good thread. I just got my Tenzing shooters pack like shown in another thread. I thought it would be ideal, with the option to carry a set of sticks.

I am afraid it is too big for my needs though. I dont have real long hikes, as a rule, to my spots. It is a well made piece of gear it appears, just not what I am looking for.

Looking hard at the Tenzing 1140 or 11.4 sling packs. Never used a sling style pack before, so I am unsure if I would like them. I want something small though. Been carrying way too much stuff into the woods for years.

What do you need and what do you want?
I need to carry stuff but dont want to spend a fortune doing so.
For a little thought I bet you can diy a ton of modifications to almost any pack to suit your needs.
I personally use an el cheapo walmart pack that I bought years ago. When it gets dirty or what I perceive to be smelly, I empty it and toss it in the washing machine with some non scent soap then let it air dry.

It isnt the best pack, but I can make it work for me.
FWIW, I always hunt alone so I am not worried about what others think of it! lol

Check out “Tenzing” packs. I have their TZ2220 and like it a lot. I have pinched nerves in my upper back so the internal frame helps a lot.
It’s also going to determine what your setup will be for getting up the tree. I also have the “Cabellas Instinct Scouting pack” which is great for carrying my WE steps

I have a small F&S backpack that I use a lot. Quiet, light, and simple. Big pouch and small pouch.

I also have a Easton Outfitters Bowhunter 2000 pack I picked up a while back that is an internal frame pack with hip and chest buckles. It has a bow/rifle holder that works ok. I like hiking with it, but it seems big in the tree.

Currently using a Game Plan Gear Full Rut pack. Good mid sized pack with organized storage for in the tree. A little heavy, but well built and great strapping ability.

Now you’re talking me out spending the kids inheritance. :tearsofjoy:

I'm fortunate to have several different packs I've collected over the years, including a full size Badlands Super Day, a medium Cabela's Scout, and a small inexpensive, yet comfortable Rocky back pack. I also have a Badland's Monster fanny pack with shoulder straps, a medium size Cabela's fanny pack and a small fanny pack that can be worn in front if needed. It all depends on how, where and when I'm hunting.

The smallest that you can make work. I like keeping a small profile in the tree.

I’ve used a few different packs. It all depends on what you want to carry and how you want to carry it. I use climbing sticks with aiders. I’ve come to realize that for me less is more.

I’ve used

A cheap fieldline pack. Nothing fancy. Didn’t carry sticks well. It is “floppy”.

Eberlestock X2. Too big and heavy for me. I liked the wings and the ability to strap about anything to it. The main pocket was hard to access and things would get lost at the bottom. Big solid frame but I wasn’t going to pack out an animal so I sold it.

Vanguard pioneer 1600. Nice pack. Can carry a bow or a rifle. Carries sticks well with the bat wings. Has a insulated “cooler” pocket. Plenty of storage options. Removable hip belt pouches great for a rangefinder or small pair of binos. I got it for $80 - $90 directly from vanguards warehouse through eBay I believe.

Cabela’s scout elite. This is my go to pack. Carries only what I need. Carries sticks very well and tight to your back. Light weight. I bought the vanguard thinking I would need it to carry layers during late season but I ended up just lashing them to this pack. Low profile on your back and in the tree. I’ve tried to find the perfect pack and for me so far this is it.

I agree with you on the Cabela's Scout Elite hunting pack. Of all the packs I previously mentioned, this is my go to pack. It's carries what I need most of the time and has a low profile as well. I use an aider and carry three original 32" Lone Wolf sticks or three modified 24" double step Lone Wolf sticks. What kind of sticks do you pack on your Scout Elite?

I bought the scout elite and returned it a coupleasure months back...flet thr load was too far from my back. But was impressed by the pack overall...

So I walked into Cabela’s this afternoon and had my mind made up to look at the Cabela’s Elite Scout Pack. Which I did. Then I looked at the Badlands Tree Stand, a Cabela’s Sling style, then a few Tenzing packs. I called it quits and went back to work.

I almost pulled the plug on the badlands tree stand pack, but it did not have a tubing hole in the top for the water bladder.

I have the Sitka tool bucket. Had it a few years now and I like it. Straps to the tree easy and it's easy to find stuff cause it's so open.
