Does anyone have any experience with a muddy strap? I was going to use it as a tree tether strap.

I used a Hunter Safety Systems tether for a bit. The thing about that one was it was clearly not meant for full time hanging and use. I first upgraded to BlueWater Assault Line which is pretty stiff, doesn't tie very well and doesn't grab the tree very well but REALLY durable...then I got Yale Bandit which is TOUGH, ties easily, is light for it's size, is cheap, grips the tree well....big upgrade.

Muddy may be fine...I don't know what they use

Thanks for the reply... what size rope do you guys use for the prussic

Just use hss tree strap with prussic, 3 of us doing it for 3 years no problem, put black diamond biner on it though.

I built my own tether out of climbing rope. I went and visited Back Country North in my home town this past spring I started with a 10' piece of rope. After about a month of working with my saddle and rope tether I have it down to a 5'5" piece of rope with its perfect for large and small trees. I like that i don't have to have the rope right at head leave with means it out of my way for either bow or rifle hunting.

You have it down to 5'5" end to end after the knots?

I generally run my bridge right up on the tree but occasionally it comes in handy to be able to have some extra line so I can climb down and adjust my platform for instance.

I'll have to check to see what mine are but for alternate climbing methods like no stick or one stick, you need to be able to raise the tether up as high as you can reach or you can't make much progress.
