Saddle gurus...didn't I read somewhere that the LW V brackets wouldn't stand up to the side pressure of being used as platform stand offs? And didn't I also read that Dano was building stand off brackets also? Sorry, but I've absorbed so much data from y'all lately that it's all running together!

Correct and correct. The LW V brackets were designed for climbing sticks and can't withstand the pressures of a ratchet strap or camming action commonly used with a platform. LW does sell an offset bracket that I've tried, but only gives two points of contact on the tree. XOP has their six point bracket back in stock now and it works well - but they increased their price to $19.99 each. Once my climbing stick brackets are ready this weekend my machinist will be working on platform brackets next - might be mid-January before I have any available.

Ok folks, here is the first look at a new option for platform brackets. In this configuration, they are 1.5" x 5.5" and 5/8" thick. They weigh in at 3.3oz. We've added a slight curve to fit the 12"-18" trees perfectly. Let me know your thoughts and if you think something needs to be tweaked.

I've gone to the LW offset bracket on the bottom and kept the LW V bracket on top, just because I have them.
I'm actually really happy with this setup.

1" thick I'm mounting to 1 1/4" solid post. I havent decided to try to cut weight by cross drilling like beast sticks or use an "I" beam design.
