What do you prefer? Onxhunt or Huntstand?

I was speaking with a tech about a bug in onx and I was talking about how they need a folder option. He said the next release should have that. He said it has been asked about forever.

That would probably make it the perfect app......

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone. I used mostly Onx last year. I hunt way off the beaten path with very little cellular signal. I think both tools will let you pre-load maps to your phone but since starting this thread I have taken another look at Huntstand. I don't see where there is any navigation assistance to get to a specific mark on your map? I used that heavily in Onx to make sure my early entries to my tree was on a specific path. I can sneak in with just a red light and use my phone to keep me right where I need to be. There is a navigation cone and a coundown in yards to let you know how close you are to the next waypoint. It's nice using the phone because I don't like to use too many physical markers in the woods and keep my spot hidden. If Huntstand had navigation assistance I would probably switch full time. Until then I'll navigate with Onx. Huntstand does look like it has better maps so I'll continue to use that to scout from home. I did like the look of scoutlook too but a little too generic.

I'm currently using both. I have loved huntstand for the last couple years but with all the hype about OnX, I had to try it. I got it back in January and have only used it for scouting so far. I like OnX but I still love huntstand.

Used onXmaps for a couple years and like it. However, this year I'm also using Huntstand and giving it the whole hunting season to see which one I like. So, far I am really liking Huntstand and the features it has. The biggest one so far is friend locator and look forward to testing it out on a scouting trip in about a month.

I use Huntstand and Scoutlook - I like Huntstand to identify property boundaries but - to me - its not as user friendly in marking spots....I use scoutlook for marking my stand spots...

I'm not very familiar with huntstand since I've always had Onx and never had any reason to switch. However is it possible to have a group of guys doing a deer drive say 5 on 5. And have their location show up on the huntstand app? That was it would in fact be a more effective deer drive If so can someone kindly explain how

Not sure about that but maybe - kinda like sharing your current locations...Maybe someone who knows more about Huntstand - or some other app - will chime in and answer your question...

I was a fan of HuntStand until ALL of my waypoints up and disappeared one day...years of scouting, camera, stand location etc gone just like that. No reasonable answers from them. I synced with the cloud every hunt...

That's the same problem I've had here in Northern VA. Had the cops called on me twice for tresspassing, thankfully both were chill and one was a hunter and told me he'd had the same problem. After that I switched to Huntstand. The only thing I like more about ONX is it shows the owner address, if it's accurate.
