Really want to add a Ruger No. 1 30-06 to my collection.
Last year I used a 300 blackout in an AR platform in a pistol format. I hunt almost exclusively thick woods and swamps so a shorter weapon is preferred for me. I also think a short rifle is ideal in a saddle.
I’m seriously considering purchasing a Ruger American ranch rifle as my next deer rifle. The 16 inch threaded barrel has me jonesing. I am leaning towards the 7.62 x 39 or the 243.
I have a Ruger Ranch in 450! Incredible gun. If you put a MCarbo spring in the trigger for $19 it if fantasticLast year I used a 300 blackout in an AR platform in a pistol format. I killed deer from the saddle last year with the ranch. I also just picked up a go wild 450 BM. Now I have to cerakote a scope to match. Hope it is as accurateI have the 450 in the Ruger Go Wild form. I have not shot anything with it besides paper. Extremely fun and accurate.
I’m shootings the Hornady Black ammo. It’s a little dirty but more accurate than I can shoot. I was easily cutting holes at 100 and I don’t consider myself a good rifle shooter. They are loud though.
I have an old Remington model 788 in a 243 that has killed well over a hundred deer (damage control permits and deer season). Definitely would fall into the "tool" catagory and not in the good looks. Trigger has a lot of creep but the old gun is actually pretty accurate.
