I own the Stepps and love them, and have no issues with their waiver or creative ways the Stepps have been leveraged in just the past year. We take more risk driving to work every day, but we still do it. I think we are getting closer to an accident from sheer stupidity / laziness - and it will be how awful saddle hunting is because we do things differently from the mainstream. WE is posting videos about all the people they see putting the Perch on wrong - not following directions or doing more research and firing off on FB. It's been kind of a frustration to watch some of the flood of new people come in to this style of hunting but not put the full rigor into researching and learning about what they are doing, and questions about "is it safe" will actually become more legit. The FB posts I can't even stand anymore, at least here the community will point out issues and concerns in a manner that is constructive and protective of it's members and there is no shortage of threads that answer damn near every question a new person would ever have, but we live in a world of instant gratification. I have no idea how some of our highly accomplished members here find the time or have the patience to answer the same questions on FB every day. I'd throw my phone out first LOL. As has been said here hundreds of times - anytime you go up into a tree with a weapon you are creating risk, so folks have to get really comfortable and confident in their process to mitigate that risk.
I'm contemplating a Perch after initially being uninterested - threads like this are helpful with people's honest reviews, experiences and videos so I don't think it's gone sideways - just a good dialogue. And the growth of the SH family gives everyone more access to people who do this - it wasn't long ago where the nearest Saddle Hunter was in another state. I know before I think about pulling the trigger, I'll drive up to see @Bwhana like he came to my house when contemplating saddles. When I first started I had to read every thread to learn - but man I was glad I did.
