I have a simple WE bag mod. First wild edge has a loop in the bottom of the bag. That loop has to much slack in it. The steps don't stack in the bag they nestle inside of each other. It's only one step thick all the way down, it doesn't matter how many you have in there. So the first thing I did is to sew the slack out of that bottom strap. That holds the first 4 steps nice and secure. Then I added a second strap inside the bag to receive my next 3 steps. The last part is to sew around the zipper so it can't slide all the way to the bottom.I have mine about 6 inches from the bottom. That also helps the steps from falling forward out of the bag, even with the ropes out over the front of the bag. If you stowed the ropes properly you don't need to pull the ropes out of the bottom of the bag to deploy them as you climb. I did end up cutting the bottom of my bag when I first saw that mod, tonight I will resew it closed because sometime they fall out when I walk in with the bag over my shoulder. I carry 7 steps that gets me 30 feet if I need it.
