I've seem this done several times. What I worry about is I believe the versa buttons are designed for opposed pressure, so it equals out on the bolt and plate. My concern is uneven side pressure will bend and weaken the bolt and potentially the plate behind it.
I agree your also putting a lot of stress on 1/8 inch aluminum not alot of strength

What are your thoughts on swapping out the stock strap and running a strap from EWO and an OCB through behind the plate like the original strap was? I didn’t mind the stock strap other than having to run it through the buckle and the noise from that bar inside the buckle.

I think the original works great honestly. Mine is a hook pinched tight to the plate and kinda like a rear seatbelt buckle for center passenger in my truck is best I can describe it. If that’s what you have then it’s easy to use can be switched to either side depending on your preference. Can’t be done on the fly but but I’m right handed so definitely prefer it one way. My original hook isnt tacked together so I wedged a screw driver and got hook to spread just wide enough that an XOP tree stand replacement strap loop should slide into hook. Then I’ll just wedge it behind plate and maybe wrap strap with a little gorilla tape to protect it from plate edges and I should have a brand new cam buckle tree stand strap. Might shrink wrap hook to so as to cover exposed metal not that it’s flopping around much but hey why not.

I have an old limit that I’m going to mess around with. Has anyone tried changing the seat front to a point between your legs? It would be similar to sitting in those 3 point stools which may be less of a “toilet bowl” effect on the legs.
If you happen to want to re home that loc on limit you have. I'd be interested in it for sure

It sounds like mine has a different strap.
Functionality is great. The buckle is a little loud and you’ve got to thread it through when tightening it and thread it back out when taking it down. I may make another square plate and give the OCB strap a try.

Ya it must be different. Mine really is a great design and could be used quietly with a little care but it stays threaded at all times so not fussing around.

Mark sent me this photo last week. It is leveling for the windwalker. He said he hopes to have them ready for the first of September. They are modular so you can add it to the windwalker that you already bought from him.

That's the same leveling setup that chippewa uses. Works well.

So here‘s my current state of mods

-replacement grade 8 bolts for platform cable mounts
-Stealth Strips around most of the stand
-pipe insulation around front seat bar
-Paracord Cobra wrap around front of stand for a “no look“ marker for my feet of edge of stand. Also I think it just looks good and I didn’t want to put more Stealth Strip out front.
-3 1/4x20 bolts w/nylock nuts on the tree V for bite against tree once cam’d over
-Rustoleum Patio spray paint brown and textured. Helps quite platform so wet boots don’t make squeaks. Like it better then the grey original too.
-also tightened top seat bolts a turn + so they now stick out of the nuts 1/4 to 3/8’s inch biting tree real good. Not a bat wing but very stable.

Pics show how I pack sticks on stand too. They are made to stack together on 1in square tubes and that just so happens to be what the seat tubes are. I attach them with 2-20in gear ties weaved around sticks and through platform mesh holding everything tight and solid. Then I take the tree strap and wrap that tight around sticks and seat tubes for double protection from moving. Total setup with sticks weights around 15lbs and that’s mostly the sticks.

Few wishes for future are replacement strap for tree strap. Original is in good shape and is gonna work but let’s face it straps 30yrs old time for replacement. Would like to extend seat fabric for more comfortable seat. My biggest want is a way to make platform adjustable and have a few thoughts, but in talking with Mark who makes the stands now there maybe a solution for that coming.

Having fun playing around with it and plan to use it in a hybrid style with my saddle as safety belt. I can get up easily 18ft with this setup and if right tree maybe 20ft. Spin your sticks around and rest the bottom and f the step on the seat posts. Keeps from
Sliding a little better
Between the tolerances being so tight on the stand offs and the Stealth strips I have all I can do to get them off at moment. The left side set is sitting hard against nuts on seat posts too. I’ll play a bit more though.

Took the buttons off of mine today and put a strap from EWO on it.
It locks tight to the tree and has very little fiddle factor to it.
Going to build a new plat for it just to be safe since I drilled holes in this one for the buttons.

I have a replacement strap from XOP coming with double loops. I tapped a steel tree felling wedge in my original hook and it will spread just enough to allow loop to go into center and since I have a couple of them once I get it started I can tap second one in and remove first and presto pretty much like original strap. It’s gonna be a little thicker then original so I may try and protect it a bit by wrapping some duct tape around the strap where it meets aluminum plate. That EWO one looks good though!!!

So is Mark making the windwalker and limit again and selling them? I don't see them on the site.
Yup selling quite a few of them by the sounds of it. I think if he actually put them on the site open to the public he’d be swamped!!! You can get the pack from what I hear too which is made specifically for the WindWalker. Mark is super nice and easy to deal with!!!
