I’ve been out to this piece of land scouting twice. Since I didnt get quota hunts this will be my spot this year along with a gazillion other suckers. Last time I was out I bumped a single deer which I believe was a buck but only saw the tail and came up on a doe with two smaller does. I tried to get out to the west but its super swampy > 14” standing water. Topos show no contour lines. Yellow section is mature pines and the easterly side is easily accessable. Im heading back to scout this weekend and would really appreciate some suggestions/recommendations.

In our WMAs the deer seem to retreat in the swamps when pressured. If this is your local romp n stomp I would focus on the swamp fringes and if you can find an island accessible by waders you'll eliminate most of your fellow hunters.

This is my suggestion. The red X appears to be mast trees. I would hunt that stand in the PM on a north to NW wind and approach from the south. It shows nice bedding surrounding it. on the scouting trip , take binos and look in trees for acorns. Live oaks and water oaks the squirrels will be cutting now and be present on the ground. Good Luck!!WMA.jpg
