Working my way into Keto

I ended up whittling down until I found something that just really worked for me. One of the important factors is getting enough greens and salads in on a daily basis, 7 to 10 cups. I used to dress up my spinach and kale salads with seasoned ground beef, ranch dressing, bacon, cheese, olives, jalapenos, sea salt and nutritional yeast... and it was quite filling, usually the only meal I ate per day. Apart from that I might eat some mixed nuts or one of my wife's delicious little Sweet Keto creations around bed time to combat the munchies. That had me in a state of intermittent fasting from usually around 10 p.m. until 2 p.m. the next day when I ate my salad.

This thread popped up at just the right time, I've been slacking since last November. I had gotten myself back down into the 220s for the first time in over a decade (229), but after I got off of keto I've gone back up to 236.
I would like to get down to around 215 before hunting season.

First full day of the keto lifestyle went good yesterday. Had 160g fat 93g protein and 10g net carbs. Didnt have to change much other than my dinner and nightly eating habbits. Late night snacks are tough to resist, especially when the wife makes brownies and ice cream....

I'm down at my target weight so I don't know if this would work for you.
I have started eating macadamia nuts and Brazil nuts as a late night TV watching snack.

Keto worked for me fantastically. Dropped 60 lbs in 6 months. I don't want or need to lose anymore, now I eat keto just because its healthy. I didn't count fat/protein or carbs. I just quit eating foods with carbs in it. If someone would have told me a year ago that one of my favorite foods was mashed cauliflower I would have told them to stop smoking dope. :)

I’m somewhere around 30 lbs in two months. Trying to dial it down to losing five lbs a month for the next 30 lbs and then stay right around that weight or maybe lose a pound a month for a while as long as I’m adding lean mass in the process. I’m a feast or famine guy. I never had a problem losing weight once I made my mind up to do it but I have always struggled with maintaining. I haven’t eaten enough fat the last couple weeks and too much protein. I’m still losing but I’ve been getting hungry more often than I was. I have also become extremely bored with salads so I think I’m going to try to get most of my greens the smoothie route. I enjoy salads but feel like I’ve eaten a room full of baby spinach and mixed greens the last couple months.
@onestringer my wife generally learns to cook a couple new meals per year. Last year was the year of broccoli and cauliflower. My favorite way to have them is baked. Just get a huge cookie sheet and cover it with chopped broccoli cauliflower and about half a chopped onion. I know she uses thyme and rosemary. She’s avoiding salt so a good bit of mrs dash garlic and herb gets dumped on it. Drizzle with olive oil and grate a little fresh Parmesan cheese on top. Throw it in the oven and pull it out when it’s done to your liking. She prefers it like it’s been steamed and I like to leave it in there until most of the Parmesan and olive oil has started to look like caramel and some of the broccoli is started to look toasted. That’s my favorite way to eat broccoli and cauliflower right now but I end up eating more from steamer packs in the microwave. She’s a lot better cook after 15 years of marriage. In the 21 years her mom had her all she had learned to cook was rice a roni.

Also found this peanut butter at walmart tonight. Only 2 net carbs in 2 tablespoons. Huge score because peanut butter is one of the main food groups.

Yeah that stuff will get you through some tough times lol. When I'm on keto I tend to eat cheese to the point that I feel like I'm living on it. I like how keto almost forces you to get the vegetables in but after a while I feel like I am eating the same stuff over and over because the wife and I live busy lifestyles and don't have time to make keto gourmet meals
