WTB Blackhorn 209 Powder

Can't see to like posts in the classifieds. But glad you think I picked the right one. it's my first muzzleloader so lots of research to do

Compared by volume, the actual weight is almost half. In reality, you get ALMOST twice as many shots as you think lol. @woodsdog2 I'll keep you in mind! Shipping is the killer almost as much as the availability... BH209 is good stuff; especially when you consider the corrosiveness (or lack thereof), the non-hygroscopic properties, minimal fouling, and velocity increases (~20% over standard by comparable volume)! As a negative, you need to be WAY more selective on primer choices, as a "normal" primer will most likely cause hang-fires. Also, if you don't have a "locking" in-line muzzleloader designed for it, you will most likely need to open up the flash hole to ~0.035".

What? Didn’t realize that. What do they do then?
They buy bulk powder from the manufacturers, package it and sell it. They also develop and publish load data. Hodgdon got it's start buying/ reselling surplus military powder after WWII/

Just letting ya’ll know Hodgson called me yesterday they have Blackhorn 209 in now. I ordered a pound. Man! Bend over with shipping and the hazard fee and tax. Oh well. It’s just money.

I just got an 8oz jug for now. If it is still around on Friday I will probably get a pound.

It’s been in the Colorado Springs Scheels for a few weeks. Scheels also has Winchester 209 primers.

I ordered Tuesday and it was on my doorstep when I got home from work today!

all this chatter here and on anothe rforum i'm on makes me want to buy a can or two and stick it in the closet... and i dont even have a muzzleloader... yet.

I got a couple six packs of the charge tubes too. You measure it by volume not weight. These have the graduated scale on them to facilitate that. Woodman says best loads for accuracy with the saboted .45 cal is 100-120gr. of the BH209.
