I’ve thought about it, and likely will. I just wanted to avoid the extra hooks and such.No problem man. You should just grab a ratchet strap locally and do something like this, so you can get rockin' this season, work on the perfect setup in the off season! View attachment 7327

Yes please. I can always get a buckle. If you have any with the flat hook. All mind are just straps with no hooks. Like a tension strapI think most guys are using the flat hook with the OCB so any way you go, short of an endless ratchet, you will have hardware. In this case, the hardware makes it much easier to hook things up in the dark without worrying about your steps falling off when trying to feed the webbing through the buckle every time.
Let me know if you want to attempt it and need a strap with a flat hook, I think I still have several originals from the Ameristeps.
So a lone wolf strap could work in that way? This otc buckle is what I use, I cut off the hook and use a screw link to connect them. If you need longer length you can use 1” webbing.

Of course. That’s smartYes it should, as long as they fit the buckle. I just tied an overhand knot into one end of the webbing.
