MANTIS...... WHATS UP TETHRDNATION

I ordered June 24 - hoping to get Mantis soon too...

Its interesting how many different opinions there are on what saddle setup works best for someone....For me, the platform is the only way I will use a saddle...If it wasn't for that I would prolly not consider a saddle for hunting....Others find the ring of steps better....Some like a high tether, some like a low one...To me, its kinda like deer hunting - everyone has a certain way they hunt, and if you listen to enough guys who kill big bucks consistently, you will find 'common ground' in the techniques they use to be successful, but, there are many, many different ways to kill big bucks successfully...there is no one right and everything else is wrong way....

I appreciate everyone sharing what works for them, no matter how different it is than the 'norm'....I've learned a lot on this forum and feel I have shortened the learning curve if my Mantis ever gets here lol .......

I feel differently. I can't understand why someone would want to carry a platform with a saddle. To me a saddle is made to sit in, so I sit in it. I sit in it similar to a chair and put most of my weight in it. When most of my weight is in the saddle it doesn't matter what I'm standing on. The steps are there mostly to allow me to move around the tree. Everyone likes something different.
I"m with red on this one, but understand the pros of a platform, they just dont fit my needs or wants...I havent been doing this as long as everyone else, but the advantage of a saddle (IMO)is not being stuck in one small spot, and the packability. I literally fit my entire climbing method and platform in my cargo pocket all weekend. CF bolts, drill, and 5 cranford t-screw in steps. to get the best shot location off I would have had to be on the opposite side of the platform where I was setup many of the times--i.e. a crossing of 3 game trails.... Hunting from a platform from me is just like hunting from my windwalker with a RCH.

@DaveT1963 The idea of setting the tether up lower in order to pass the bow would be a huge advantage to me hunting with a 63" or 64" bow, but it just doesnt work for the amount I like to mover and how I sit.(again different strokes right?) I really wish it did, and that is one reason I really dig the treesuit is I can tether lower and sit how i want.

I think everyone has some solid points here, and what the important take away is to understand what the benefits are(or can be) of each and try them for yourself to figure out what works for you.

simple, to stand.

Got the Mantis (medium) today and was able to hang in it for a few minutes. Need to get it dialed in but I really like it. I’ve hunted twice from a SD and liked it and the Mantis seems like quite the improvement.

First impression out of the bag is that its construction is solid. It feels like it will safely suspend me in a tree!

I do find the molle loops a tad tight but useable.

I like the linesmans belt loops. Feels really good after only using the SD loops.

Gotta find the sweet spot with the fit adjusters but they definitely change the feel.

I also got the tether, and milked it. Feels better after milking.

Overall, I feel like it comes ready to hunt out of the bag!

Very happy so far!

Im expecting all my accessories which will complete my package on Friday!! With two down its all about bucks now baby yeah!! I wonder if a deer think mantises are predatory!!

woke up this morning no shipping update :(

Don’t get discouraged, they’re shipping tons of orders out right now. My guess is they’re shipping first and sending emails only as needed.
Quite a few guys have received their orders before shipping notification, think of it like a surprise. Who doesn’t like a good surprise every once in a while?

haha bro we got a cold front moving into Michigan tomorrow! I need to know!!!

If you have to put your tether at mid chest level to be comfortable something is majorly wrong with your setup.

Haha, this is why the debates will never be settled! I read that almost LOL'ed. I prefer the low and short tether so I'm not swinging around the tree all whilly nilly and love it for leaning while on my platform. Mid chest is a little low, but neck level is pretty common.

Sorry @redsquirrel , didn't see the huge debate before I replied :)

What was your order date/number? Good luck in the woods this year! I also ordered a medium but later than most guys. (3 weeks ago) I'm hoping to get it before I have my first sit on Halloween weekend.

Got an update that remainder of my order shipped ..I had both pouches a recliner and micro adjusters.

I ordered end of June. They were supposed to get caught up on medium orders this week so you may be close!
