What is the overall height compared to the overall distance of the platform out from the tree? That would be my only concern at this point, making sure the weight distribution and geometry work.

It’s 5” from tree tooth to tree tooth the 15” from the tooth to the end of platform

The aluminum square tubing reminds me of my old API climbing stands. I wonder if there is a safe and practical way to incorporate a coated chain or cable with pin through tubing as a method of attachment. It would be quieter than a ratchet and be self contained. The chain/cable may limit tree diameter possibilities some but just an idea.

I thought about that but after owning a API climber and see how much of a pain to find the right tree was I decided to keep it simply and open to more trees

This is my only concern. The 5” to 15” ratio. A good ratchet strap might get it done though. You’ve done an outstanding job on the build. I hope it works!!

Yeah that’s one thing I’m going to test the **** out of! I’ll probably end up wreck this platform but it’s a prototype! Thanks for the helpful advise!

If that particular model doesn't work, I think a stage 2 could be adding the support down the tree some would help some. My concern is similar to Carls, I think it will likely need to be taller for the stability desired. Now, you can obviously overcome that with a 2" ratchet strap, but that is a heck of a strap. Wouldn't be a bad idea to try that with some preset stands. I could see those taking off if you get it figured out for preset stands. Could also make them out of steel instead. If it is preset, weight really isn't that big of a deal.

Very nice build. I think if you flip it over the other way, the geometry will work better. You then have a brace under the platform to combat all that leverage.

How did you bend the tubing so nicely? I think if you modified your design to hang more like the xop/predator style, it would be a winner for sure.

I personally think you could skip the grating. Does it really add much benefit? The detractor is potential for noise when cold and when dragging a boot across it. I think it'd be nearly as functional without that grating. JMO

Alright so I’ve done a small amount of testing on the platform! Good news is she is solid! With one strap it will work but with a slight bounce. With two straps it is great and holds tight! I did notice some slight dents from where the strap hooks pull tight into the aluminum (probably need thicker wall tubing on the vertical pillars) but other than that it was pretty good! Plenty of foot room for me (size 13) which should be even better for people with smaller feet! All in all not bad for the first prototype! I guess I will have to try it out on hogs since I’m tagged out already on Whitetails and seeing that my mantis hasn’t showed up yet like many others!
