And this is why i'm willing to wait and support Tethrd if they'll tell me their plans for the future.

My only (small) complaint about the predator is I wish it were larger. I honestly don't believe it is too small. I would just like something a little larger.

I plan on chopping up that alpha this summer too to try out and see how that goes.

Totally understand, love my predator, but I feel like I could use a couple of more inches sometimes... Wait that sounds bad... Either way, someone could buy a brand new tree stand from lone wolf proper and cut it down for less money than LWCG and still have a seat to make into another platform.

So many options, we live in an exciting time for saddle hunters! We will tell our children of the days when we had to use fleece blankets and Paracord while standing on steps that we're recalled years ago! It will be like the older guys on here talking about their first compound bows

I’m surprised they didn’t come out with a water jet platform and cut the weight down. I would almost bet money that happens down the road.

Water jetting also takes much longer versus casting parts, so that also probably affects the final cost as they can't produce the same volume as quickly.

On the plus side, they can probably more easily make product tweaks and low-volume products.

Kinda shocking that no one has done this yet, but when you consider the costs involved and subsequent selling price...it makes sense.

There's a lot of advanced manufacturing being done these days that the hunting market simply isn't tapping into because it's cost prohibitive. Some of the stuff i'm seeing with 3D printing is absolutely mind blowing. Structures, forms, and shapes previously thought impossible to manufacture can be made quickly and easily. Pretty impressive stuff. The downside is speed of production, but if volume is low it makes a lot of sense.

Yeah additive manufacturing is pretty amazing. I've seen components that were previously 10s-100s of thousands to machine and assemble...now 3d printed, at least in testing stages.

Everything is worth what the market will pay for it, but didn’t Martha Stewart go to fluffy jail for selling Assassin platforms before the release of lonewolf custom gear( maybe I’m confusing events)

If the platform had come out 2 years ago, me and a ton of other people would have talked ourselves into forking over the money. Instead of getting everyone that didn't want to diy, they will only get the people who want a bigger platform. If tethrd puts out a predator XL for $225.... market share would be even lower.

I just hope there's a fanny pack and back pack design specifically for saddle hunting in the near future. Andrae said he uses a back pack made just for him.

That's not really the point or the reason so many of us are pining for a Predator XL or excited about the Ambush. It's because the Predator is marketed as a pivot style platform, and the Predator is a tad small for most of us to execute the "pivot maneuver" to shoot to our weakside in heavy boots and clothes. It's a great concept but not quite there, thinking a OSFA approach was going to satisfy all desires. But tethered was founded to be ultralight so it should come as no surprise either that the first Predator is a little undersized. Personally I think in between about 14 x 16" is a sweet spot. Not everyone agrees with that but that's fine I just want what works best for me and going DIY here I don't really see as a feasible option.

I don’t think the New Lone Wolf pricing is all that nuts and I am pretty fatigued by all the whining about it. Feel free to pay $600-700 to the crooks that were jacking up the used Assassin market the past month knowing something else was on the horizon. If that’s not a con job I don’t know what is but people were dumb enough to pay it so I guess all you can do is laugh.

A lot goes into pricing a product based on different business models. It goes far beyond materials and margin. Heck I am inclined to believe the Tetherd guys may have even built some altruism into their pricing models wanting to promote saddle hunting and not figuring the business would ever be a cash cow. They also appear to be operating a very low overhead operation, which I find advisable. I was personally surprised at their pricing, I kind of expected 25% higher across the board.

I don't think the rubber grommets will be an issue. If they become an issue you'll be able to skip a McDonalds meal and buy a replacement set from LWC. They'll sell parts just like they do at LW.

Well put, all of it. I don’t know that making money was ever their goal but the better they promote saddle hunting the more they will make also and I hope they do well.
