Feel free to market those. I bet you’d sell a couple
How much are we talking? You want one?

@MenneDDR hey man welcome! I’ve been doing some digging on these myself. At your size I would honestly steer clear until there is more info out there and some legit testing. If weight of your setup is an issue I’d look more into possibly a titanium bolt. Light weight and a good middle of the road option. At this point I’m sticking with the grade 8 bolts. I’m about 200-220 with all my gear on I’m late season and 5’10”. I can easily get to 20-23 ft with 10 steps. With you being 6’4” you can get some decent distance between bolts with out struggling so you might not have to carry as many. Just my humble opinion. Grade 8 bolts a super strong I’ll pack 13 with my EZ-KUT and that sits around 3-4lbs. Hardly noticeable when I put them in my water bottle pocket on my bag.I am new at all of this.... and on the bigger side 6’4 and 260/280 with gear on.
Would you use these corben step? And what size? I guess the steel one will always work but can bet the weight factor.
Any information would great.
Thanks.

I wouldn't use carbon fiber at that weight. Grade 8's are pretty universally acknowledged as safe, and titanium is considered a nice in-between.I am new at all of this.... and on the bigger side 6’4 and 260/280 with gear on.

Here's a link to a good conversation about risks associated with carbon bolts:

LolYeah!!! And coffee at cups gas station and fast food joints should say CAUTION HOT!!! on the cup so nobody burns themselves...wait a minute....
I see where your coming from but that's why most if not all of these new ideas that get posted come with a disclaimer. Chances are if your saddle hunting your old enough to make your own life and death decisions. Nothing wrong with sharing innovation. No matter how smart or stupid it may be. Just my opinionCarbon fiber bolts are dangerous and should not be promoted as a safe climbing method for any age or body type. The one thing that disturbes me on this site is the race for finding the lightest method to climb a tree. This is suppose to be the year of safety for saddle hunter and when I see people taking items that were not meant to climb a tree ie. carbon rods, T screws, bolts in holes and promoting them I don’t feel we are living up to that. Many people do things that they MAY feel are safe but should keep those methods/ideas to themselves. I would hate to see someone new to saddle hunting (growing now more than ever) getting injured by ideas promoted by people who have no certification, safety testing on the devices they are personally using. Sorry NutterBuster nothing personal. Have a drink on me.
I think it’s a “given” that people are doing this stuff at their own risk. I’d say the majority of people on this forum have a good head on their shoulders. I don’t know if I see people flat out saying “oh go ahead (plug method in here) its PERFECTLY safe”. I see a lot of caveats on many things. Saddle hunting is really becoming main stream and so many DIYers are involved and climbing methods etc are a constant changing, flowing, moving thing in search of what works best for most. Let’s face it there just isnt much out there other than this forum on saddle hunting. Until there is a “Norm” this is what we have. With that said be safe guys use your brains and do your homework.Carbon fiber bolts are dangerous and should not be promoted as a safe climbing method for any age or body type. The horse is dead on that one. Being burned isn’t the same as being in a wheel chair or dead. Let’s take this serious.
