Just my ignorance... how does paying the fee avoid this? I have only had maybe 3 transactions on pay pal so dont fully understand i guess.
You are protected through PayPal against issues like this.

You have protection. If the item doesn't show or whatever just file a claim and get your money back. It really protects the seller as well. I have seen scams happen from both ends. Bottom line is, pay the extra few bucks and let paypal deal with it.Just my ignorance... how does paying the fee avoid this? About the only way to do it without getting way too many donations lis to start a go fund me I'd say. Or write down the pledges til you reach the needed amount and then message those people to set up payment to one person's paypal account. Like maybe your account so you can be the facilitatorOk, I’ve reached out to Ernie and Greg. I’m not sure the best way to pool the funds but I think we can buy this guy a saddle. We’re probably halfway there with the pledges we have.
If anybody has ideas, let’s hear it.

When you use Friends and family there is no protection. When you "pay for goods and services" Paypal will reimburse you if you do not get your product, it comes damaged, etc.Just my ignorance... how does paying the fee avoid this? I want to start out by saying that this very well may be a scam. There is certainly a bunch of "unusual" circumstances around this sale. I would like to know more details if you don't mind sharing and you can pm them to me privately. Without more details I am questioning if this is actually a scam at this point. The sale went down on Saturday night and as of the start of this thread is is Monday night, so basically 2 days with one of those days being Sunday where USPS is closed. The reason I bring this up is I have seen this before and it turns out it wasn't a scam. Sometimes life just gets in the way. People get sick, get in car accidents, have their boss tell them a project is suddenly due the next day, etc.Buyers beware. I just got taken for roughly $170 over a supposed Large Mantis by “Bowhunter121016”. I should have known something was fishy. And I in no way hold the forum responsible. I just want people to be aware. It is the first I have heard of it happening on here. I sent money and have heard nothing. They were to send me shipping information.
I was able to cancel payment for a part of it from my bank to PayPal. And while nothing will probably come from it I will call the police tomorrow. Paypal said they will release the account information to my bank and/or the police.
The user name was probably a tip off and that they had just joined the forum was also good info to have noticed.
We are being infiltrated.
Stay frosty.

I had someone buy something from me over the Labor Day weekend. I made sure I communicated with the buyer and asked them if they minded that I didnt send it for a couple days. Communication between the buyer and seller is key, especially if there is going to be a delay in shipping the item.I want to start out by saying that this very well may be a scam. The last thing I want on here is for someone to get scammed and if that was the case the scammer will no longer be here. I also don't want to see any member's name get tarnished over a misunderstanding.
I agree. And like I said, this may be a scam. But sometimes things happen out of our control.I had someone buy something from me over the Labor Day weekend. Who do you think after the ones stealing people's tree stand?Hate a damn thief. Sorry that happened. Hunters are generally a very trustworthy bunch so I'm always more willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Thanks for the heads up.

I 100% agree with you that the situation is very fishy. As I said before, it is very possible that it is a scam. I just wanted to offer up a counter point of view from what I've seen in my time doing this. I truly hope it works out for you. Please let me know the end result because as I said if it does turn out to be a scam the scammer won't be allowed to remain here. Those are fair points. And I apologize if I have jumped the gun here. But when I Paypal someone $200 dollars and they say they will provide me with shipping info on Monday morning and there is no communication or response to any request for status I call it what it is.
They finally responded to me this morning at 4 a.m. acting indignant that I would accuse them of such a thing. But it still seems fishy. They claim it was shipped yesterday at 3 p.m. Pacific time, although the post from Ebay said the seller was in Nebraska, but they have not or will not even send me a tracking number. The paypalme link they sent me originally has been pulled down and they have had no activity on Saddlehunter since joining Sunday. Those are the things that make it seem fishy to me. As soon as someone posted the ebay link in the original thread I got a bad feeling, as did others, so I was a little more proactive in requesting information. As I got none, and really still don't have any, I still have my doubts.
