Not a great video, but at least you get and idea of my leg loop length and how it works. It is very easy and quiet when set up correctly. This rope was preset and I was going in to retrieve my rope and bolts.
That's how I do it, works awesome. Do you use a pulley? I just run my rope through the bottom Boner on the left hand ascender and it gives me good leverage. Prolly not great for the rope but I swap out at the end of the year. Also are you running a GriGri?

I tried doing that, got a decent amount of leverage but the chafing made it pretty uncomfortable to sit up in the tree.

How do you like the Petzl rig? It's almost twice as expensive as the Grigri2 so you must like it a lot more? I started with a pulley at the top, then ran through the carabiner and now I don't use at all. I just pull the rope up through my Grigri2 rather than pulling down. It takes more effort, but I get more distance with each step that way.I use a petzl Rollclip carabiner at the top and a Petzl Rig for Ascent/Descent. I used a Gri-Gri for a while when I started.

The ISC D4 is a pretty awesome piece of kit as well. Also I've done rescue training where I was clipped into another climber and so about 500lbs on the Petzel ID...using a beener as an added friction device/redirect and it still preformed flawless
Throwing a line in brushy limbed trees every hunt would suck! Gotta do pre-sets. Pull the rope up with pre-set lines. Paracord lasts a long time up in a tree. Get close to bedding areas off season and set lines. Yes climbing line and the ever changing equipment upgrades are expensive. Can't argue with that. If you are successful with your current techniques there is no need to change.
