I’m interested to see the coolest innovation that Scott came up with. I think I have seen most of what there is to see on the Mantis. It’s so much like the Kestrel but so different in more than just weight. Can’t wait to hear the details.

By the way, our very own @redsquirrell is personally responsible for one of the coolest innovations on the Mantis. I'm pretty pumped to show it to you guys.

If it is as much of an upgrade as the platform or spurs I am interested if not I will get the platform and guidos. I like the changes in the guido but I bought a size 2 Kestrel in March. Too bad we did not have an earlier heads up

I may be wrong but the sewing wizard didn’t join the forum until mid February so they may not have had the “we can actually get all this done” moment before March.

I hope it’s a never ending story. I’ve only been reading stuff on this forum for a couple years and the only consistently best, must have item was the rooeman1. If someone came out with a smaller, lighter, safer, cheaper version of it it would be the new king. I hope the innovation keeps going. Saddle hunting is growing. It’s still a very small piece of the market but any kind of growth is great when they say there are fewer hunters each year.

I agree. I am glad I didn't buy a kestrel. I would be livid lol This is going to drive some further innovation and I bet we see a few more players before it's all said and done. I can't wait to get my hands on this.

Interesting that there was a recent thread trending on what we'd suggest to improve the Kestrel. These guys must have been biting their lips pretty hard.

Makes me sick thinking the little saddle elves were sitting back giggling at us! Secrets, secrets, secrets!!! Hell I'll get over it after I get my new gear.

My kestral just arrived the other day and I am far from mad. The great reviews of it still stand. Also, a lot of the guys getting the kestral now its their first saddle (including me) so I need to start practicing to be ready for october. Excited to preorder the new platform though

  1. I like the cam cleat addition to the WE steps and have yet to try it. That may make the We steps I already have something I want to use.
  2. The platform is the only thing that has my $$$$ for sure so far. And the sticks I have made are great. And I will try the WE steps modified soon.

I missed the info on cam cleats with the WE stepps. Can someone share a link or give me some info on this please?

I would like to hear some of your sizes and weights and info on the guys that have tested the Mantis.
I know Red hates the sit drag and G2 loves it you both are close to the same size but different builds. Do you both find the Mantis comfortable?
Flinginairos tall and slim. If memory serves me loved the sitdrag, and Kestrel.
Ernie didn’t like the sitdrag but loved the Kestrel.
MCDM what size are you?
I’m the same “size” as G2 but I’m “stocky” build. lol.
I would love to hear from some guys that are built a little different.

Unfortunately i have not met everyone in person so I don’t know how i compare but im 5’10” 215lbs. I would say i pretty balanced but more like athletic stocky. When i used to go to the gym i would always shoot for balance you know... no point having a big upper body with no support. I had the kestrel size 1 and it wasn’t for me now I have a size 2 which is darn better. I also have the sitdrag which was great very comfortable for me and light weight.

I guess we will discover whether saddlehunter.com has any effect on kestrel sales.
If this new saddle is better kestrel sales will plummet

Looking forward to the reveal. Just bought the Kestrel and like it, so it is staying put. If my son likes hunting from a saddle when he finally gets a chance to try my Kestrel, I may have to try a Mantis.

My question is will the pouches work on the Kestrel?

They sure will. So will the rest of the accessories like the tethers, lineman ropes, the platform.

There is nothing wrong with a Sitdrag, a trophyline, a kestrel, a Guidos Web, or any diy solution out there. Whatever gets you in the saddle!

Tethrd exists because the saddle hunting community deserves its own voice in the hunting world.

If you're like me and can't stop chasing the most lightweight, simplified, versatile, and well designed saddle SYSTEM in the world, you'll want to look at Tethrd.

If you're happy with your system, that's great! We want every hunter to have access to the best possible system without trudging through eBay, craigslist, forum classifieds, and DIY products. Treestanders don't have to do that. Why should we?

This is exactly why im here. This could very well change the hunting industry with some time. This was very well said Greg!!
