I only have 1 XOP/Ernie stand. I will keep it as a back up and to use as a seat during dog season

I’m excited to see what final buckle system you guys came up with. From all that I have seen in the prototype pics its so stream line. Curious to see the solution for light weight fasteners. I’m sure its ingenious

I'm so excited about this freaking project! I can't tell you how many conversations I've had with dozens of saddle hunters over the years about how fisherman, skiers, hikers, surfers, rock climbers, roller bladers, and tide-pod eaters all have their brands! It's time that SADDLE HUNTERS have one too.

There's been a lot of talk in this thread about ditching this saddle or that saddle for a Tethrd Mantis. That's cool, and I certainly appreciate the support, but that's not the real point of Tethrd. Ultimately we want to represent the community and provide easy access for treestand converts. The barrier to saddle hunting entry is that it takes so much effort to get started! We can't be a sideshow or an afterthought anymore! For too long saddle hunters have had to hack together DIY projects, scour internet classifieds, and beg craigslist sellers to ship specialty items. All the while, saddle hunting is a superior system. It doesn't make sense!!!!!

Someone else brought it up in the thread, but it's important to remember Tethrd isn't a marketing grab of some big company that knows nothing about what we all do. It was born from this community, to serve this community. I mean we have freaking @Erniepower, @redsquirrel, @flinginairos, @BassBoysLLP, @putt4doe, @huck72412, and the Sultan of Sewing (aka the Titan of Thread Injecting) @ckossuth on the team!

Come June 1st I really hope Saddle Hunters get behind this project. The products are amazing, and the team is super talented. The only way it will work is if we have hundreds of saddle fanatics join the Tethrd Nation and start preaching the superiority of saddle hunting. I can't wait to see where this adventure leads.

Not to get you guys anymore worked up, but....... The little snippets of photos that you guys have actually seen is as Greg said “prototypes”. The secret “Red Squirrel” design aspect has yet to be revealed!

Does the red squirrel version come with a set of high heels and it’s own mini fashion runway?

I too am excited to see this. I thought I was satisfied with my Kestrel and had every intention of sticking with it but......
I expected the platform to be good because @g2outdoors, @Erniepower and @redsquirrel all were selling off their platform a few months back. I took the hint and sold mine to counting on them to come through. Looks like it was a good decision. Lol.

Going to be a fun year!

FYI I sold my platforms because they never went into the woods, not even once lol. I'm expecting the new platform will change that though!

From my perspective(a newby to saddles), i'm telling you that you are opening the doors to a lot of individuals to expand their hunting. A few months back when I first discovered this website and the YouTube videos by G2, i felt like my hunting world had turned upside down. I knew i had found a way to ease the pain of hunting public land. All of my hunting buddies thought i was crazy. i'm known to be a little on the accident prone side of things, so they assumed i'd be hurt, maimed or killed just practicing in the yard. I bought a SitDrag and performed all the DIY mods. I made a small but heavy platform, just for practice and started demonstrating it to all my buddies. Now they all have an interest. In the last couple weeks, I've shared the news about this new saddle/platform secret project with them. In the last 2 months the view of them has gone from "you're crazy" to "I'm thinking I'm ready to try". I don't have enough knowledge to recommend any of the existing saddles, but what I've seen with this SECRET project, is it should be a great set-up for all my friends to get on board the Saddle Train. I'm gonna keep my SitDrag, because I'm proud of my work in it, but i'm ready for a Mantis. Thanks for all your efforts, EVERY one of you involved deserves a standing ovation.

As another newbie to this style of hunting I have yet to purchase or fabricate any equipment. Every time I looked at this forum someone was giving me new ideas or directions to pursue. With the Secret project I too am ready to purchase the saddle and platform for this hunting season.
I primarily hunt private farm land so the only trees are along creek bottoms. This style of hunting should definitely make it easier to get close to the roaming deer in this area.
Thanks guys for the hard work and effort to get this endeavor off the ground.

I will be 100% behind it, IF, you leak us a couple more pics.. if not, i'm joining the Russian Mafia..

@ckossuth. This is a safe place. A place where we can feel free sharing our feelings. Think of this forum as a nest in a tree of trust and understanding. You can say(or post pics of) anything here

Oh, here’s a super secret project for The Tethrd Nation crew.
How about a gun case that can wrap around the tree and be used as a knee pad.
Super secret of course.

I have found several pics....but at the risk of blowing a launch for a group of people doing something really great, here is one I think is cool: and doesn't give anything else away we haven't already seen. Though it does let us know who the silent partner is...Obviously Patagonia...Ovbiously..

FYI - all pics are of prototypes. We won't have the first production saddle or platform for a little while longer.

We're still tweaking things to get them perfect for you guys.

G2 or any others in this secret society can you at least tell us if we will need to purchase a rock harness or any other gear to make this saddle safe? I'm not too familiar with the sit drag but any video I've watched online mentions pairing it with a rock harness. Just wondering if extra gear like this will be required or recommended.
