11 sounds pretty good about now. We've been below 0 since Friday afternoon. Wind chills in the neighborhood of -40 most of the weekend. I was hoping to get back out one more time this season, but chances of that are dwindling with the subzero temps. I see we are looking at near -20 actual temp again Friday night. Might be time to store away hunting gear and break out the ice fishing gear...

Alright, I'm done... A swing and a miss last night. I sat for about 4 hours and as it got within a few minutes of closing time, I started to pack it in. I'm standing on my platform (about 3 minutes to go) with my lb just installed and removing my tether, and I hear a deer walking... I can't maneuver well because of my LB and lack of installed tether. It takes "forever" to comes through below me. It was limping bad on the rear left leg. By the time it gave me a shot opportunity, it was too dark to ethically and legally do anything. Sorry guys...

No apologies needed that's hunting.

I saw 9 deer yesterday, all unfortunately 60+ yards away. Screwed up the wind for the first group as I expected them to walk in a different place, was just unlucky for the evening but learned a new trail that all 3 of them walked on, but now I have a bit more hard earned intel for Saturday if they follow the same patterns.

Just put more priority on family time this year, than I did hunting lol.

Noting wrong with that and I suspect we will regret missing opportunities to be with family /kids more than we will remember times we didn't get to hunt. My family situation changed as well this year so now with 50/50 custody this season I was all in on my kids the half that I had them, but the half that I didn't opened up much more opportunity to go to the woods. I am 100% positive that was the main reason I had a much more successful season than years past.

Going out again tomorrow for what will likely be my last hunt of the season, unless I can squeeze another quick after work sit in (unlikely). Snowed a few more inches today so hoping to have some good movement tomorrow.

Likely going to do all day outing again (unless I *fingers crossed* shoot one in the AM) in a tree that gets me towards where the AM group came through in the AM on Monday, and then a different one to catch the PM path to bedding I saw Monday afternoon as well. If I get out there and see a ton of tracks in the snow I may adjust, but going off my Intel from Monday's all day sit I think I have as good a plan as I've had any other day, and I've got a few hot hands left over to help me stick it out. Looks like another day in the 20s, I need to double-check wind forecast to confirm my plans (edit- wind direction looks like this plan will work) but I'm hunting in rolling hills/streambeds next to a larger body of water so thermals always seem to play into it too.

Goal is an if it's brown it's down hunt, whatever comes within range is hopefully getting a lung piercing, I'll shoot a doe fawn if it doesn't have spots(they likely won't this time of year). If I can use my bonus buck tag even better, but not gonna be picky as it would be fantastic to close out the season with one more deer of any type, so I'm taking the first opportunity I get (if I get one).

No dice. Followed the plan, sat out all day in two different places in teens-lown20s (single digits with wind-chill, wind was around 15 mph all day I'm a ice cube) but saw zero deer. Oh well, at least I won't be annoyed at myself/wonder what if all of season if id stayed home on the couch today.

It was a good run. Is everyone's season officially over? I have 3 days of trad only still available and I had a bit of an urge to take the recurve out on Saturday for a hail Mary attempt, but I think that I need another summer of trad practice before I hunt with it, so I'll be taking the hunting gear out of my truck and packing it all away instead.

We go until the 28th. I'll be able to go a handful of times when the family is here to baby sit. Got called in Saturday so have to travel a couple hours from the house... Hopefully morning and late afternoon sit tomorrow. Walking in blind.

All finished here. This was a short season for me being tied up with some health issues and family obligations. I should have taken some more opportunities early season. I think we had some solid numbers as a team. Nothing to look down on for sure.

Best of luck!

My season ended Jan 15th. I managed a personal best 10pt this season but unfortunately I was hunting from the ground with my dad. Actually, in all our seasons of hunting, it was the first buck I'd ever killed while my dad and I were hunting together so it was a great memory made. Sadly it didn't count towards the team total.
