Ok - got mine on a tree. very happy with how light and slim it is.
Regarding attachment. I attached it with the included rope as well as a cam strap. I had varying success with the rope and I can tell it will take some practice to get used to. The first few times I did not have any gap on the top teeth like other people reported, but I did encounter that a few times while playing with leveling the platform. I think leveling the platform seems to be the biggest challenge, but I assume it is that way with any rope attachment, since you can't just let some strap out, you have to fully undo the rope.
I found success in this method -attach with the rope while the platform is open only enough to secure the rope. Open the platform to verify leveling and adjust the screw if needed. If you adjust the screw - you have to undo the rope and start over. Once you are satisfied with the leveling, close the platform a little and flip the top section. While ensuring the rope is still perpendicular to the tree, open the platform fully, making the top section bite in.
I tried using the cam strap a few times. works well, same type of issues with figuring out the exact type of slack needed to engage the teeth properly. But it is easier to adjust for leveling.
Not sure which method I will stick with, need to do more experimenting. I had no flex in my platform. 165lbs. size 12 boots in the pics. Yes that is the platform free floating from biting the tree. Kinda is nice for when taking the strap off.
I did have some issues with the buttons for the top section seeming to stick. I can see them being a problem with gloves on. I felt like the rope cleat was hard to undo, but I might just need practice
