    DIY Tree Squeeze/Choke.

The commercial squeeze has held up well in 2 seasons use. The line stiffness is particularly nice with snow & ice on the trees. I hunt 2 miles from B.C. border, no cell service, occasionally by myself, so it’s prudent to reduce risk where I can. Prefer the caribiner on my saddle vs against the...

    Buckingham Tree Squeeze

I used the loop end of my daughter’s calf roping lariat to make a DIY squeeze. It was plenty stiff and gripped the tree bark well. Not sure how strong it is? Probably not cost effective: anything connected to a horse is stupid expensive!

    DIY Tree Squeeze/Choke.

WesSpur has an adjustable friction saver in their catalog for $77. The friction saver is essentially a single line version of the tree squeeze, which they also sell. Use of a tight eye on the terminal end of your linesman attached with a carabiner to your saddle will make it very easy to unclip...

    Buck Squeeze

I use my squeeze/lineman as a teather when we have a lot of snow on the trees. It weighs 1 lb but keeps me from sliding down if I gaff out. I have a tight eye on one end to thread through the rings but there are other ways to release the linesman.

No, the new pads & straps cost nearly $100, these aren’t the crappy T pads, they are Weaver shin cups. But thanks for your interest...

Today i practiced a little with the spurs

Got my son started climbing with spurs using a home-made version of the TreeSqueeze. This type cinching lanyard improved his confidence and reduced his fear of sliding down the tree. Simple to use: just wrap the squeeze around the tree, adjust length with the prussic, run your existing linesman...

Amsteel Blue Breaking - Not during saddle use

Diameter is 3/8” or 10mm, the thinner grey Amsteel on my back strap bungee is 5/16”. I’ve used one of the grey short back strap lines with sewn loops to lift the 225 Yamaha off the transom of our boat. I have total confidence in this high strength hollow braid line, just need to maintain/replace...

Amsteel Blue Breaking - Not during saddle use

Good questions! I put the bridge on the Kestrel new this spring. I’m embarrassed to tell you I never really examined the inside surface of the end loops (until now...). After looking at the inside of the loops I’m definitely going up to Wespur and pick up a new length of Amsteel! I practiced...

Amsteel Blue Breaking - Not during saddle use

Not sure how to gauge the wear on the Amsteel, it certainly looks more worn than the Predator used on my linesman and teather which still looks new? I’ll put on a new bridge for next season.
