2020 - the year of ...............

Another thought; 2020-the year of... finally getting Infalt to turn!

You just know The Godfather of mobile hunting knows deep down inside that this is his destiny. It’s inevitable. He’s coming with.

I like this thread, I've been thinking about this for the past few weeks for my own 2020 season. Love the idea of 2020 being the forum's year of Education.

Personally, it will be the year of:
Quiet- everything is getting silenced, not just my hard gear. I'll be wearing fleece type garments, softer sole shoes(maybe mocassins?) I'll be sewing up a fleece backpack too.

Soft -A softer look, I've seen where people just kind of mist everything with a flat tan, you can still see the pattern under it, but knocks down the shine. Everything is getting hit. It's also amazing how some camo can be shiny, getting rid of that.

Minimalism- I've been doing this for a 4-ish years now, I've got it pretty much dialed in for how I hunt. Time to sell all the extra gear that I've tested and focus on what works. This also means only taking what I need to the tree, things go so much smoother when you don't have to search for your stuff in your backpack.

Preparation- Nothing worse than packing your stuff into your backpack at the car as it starts getting gray light... I want to be packed up and ready way in advance this year. I'll be doing the usual scouting, but I actually plan to pick specific trees and entrance routes, we'll see how much time I actually have to do this.

Focus- I'm lucky to be hunting in a spot that allows deer to get old. I will be killing one of those old deer this year. Every sit will be focused on that goal from the start. I'm getting better at it, but sometimes I find myself setting up where I'll see more deer, not the one deer. I'm going to leave my doe tags at home till I kill him or it gets to be late season.

My season just ended yesterday, it was a ton of fun, and got some great deer. It just makes me more excited for the 2020 season. Good luck to everybody!
Sounds like a very well thought out plan! I’m going to steal some of those focus points lol

The year to learn a new method and kill one out of the saddle.

2019 was a rough year. Lost my land on the first day of season. Piggybacked with friends that was allowed to bring someone with them, and a couple of places in the neighborhood (stealth mode). I had a couple opportunities but passed due to questionable shoots. The hawks with aiders and the H2 was my choice this year. I will try the spurs and try to rappel this year. I love my sticks, but want to cut down on the weight a little and go with a smaller backpack. I recently got me a faster and smaller crossbow, so i am on my way to get there. But first of all, I GOT TO FIND LAND TO HUNT!!!!!!!!!

year of post season scouting for me and oddly enough, lowering my standards on bucks and getting meat in the freezer with intention of just getting better at killing stuff with archery equipment...not necessarily big stuff, until I figure out how to consistently run into wild ancient public donkeys.

The year of disassociating hunting with politics, religion, and other cultural proclivities. We need to broaden the tent and efforting to drop some of hunting's stereotypes is a good way to do this.
Anecdotally speaking, a guy like Joe Rogan has helped to open guys' eyes to hunting that would have never considered it before. He certainly doesn't check every stereotypical hunter box and I think this is important to get more folks interested in hunting.

I fully plan on putting out a lot more quality content this year! Fully open to suggestions on what people want to see!

@flinginairos I would love to see your process of hunting bucks in the App. Range from start to finish. How do you spring/summer scout, in season scout, locate bucks, approach stands, deal with wind issues in the mountain, etc etc. I want to see more eastern/ App. Mt. content!

I hear ya man. I feel the same way. I passed on a few bucks this year and it's coming down to the wire and I still don't have meat in the freezer. I made a big mistake passing and now I have to eat crow.

Do you guys have doe tags? It is easy to get them where i live and i practice on those to hone my killing skills. Last year was my worst season ever,so this year i was not going to pass shot opportunities on does and i was happy i didn't,my two archery does were all i had to show for at the end of the season.
Next year will be the same approach unless i think a buck may be trailing the doe,if it is close to the rut.

My area is 1 buck unlimited doe per season. My house backs to state land. I must admit the urge to shoot them off my deck at times is strong....

He’s got to much invested in coming out with his own stands to flip now. I did see Joe pull out a mantis.

No "tags" in Florida, just state bag limit of 5 deer for entire season, with 2 of 5 being doe's. During Archery and a 4 day doe hunt on private land is the only opportunity to kill doe's. So for me, I only have Archery to get a doe and I blow the only shot I had during Archery. I shot high over her back.

I think this year for me will be the year of "precision archery". I've always been set up to get arrows down range, and over the years (28) have had great luck in getting animals in the freezer. This year I'll be fine tuning my shooting, and fine tuning my archery gear, with a primary focus on my arrows. My plan for next year is to kill my first deer with traditional equipment. I also need to lay out all the gear and down size some. I seem to have an over abundance of unused tree stands around.

After a great discussion with a friend from the site, I hope @redsquirrel will seriously consider this one.

To quote my friend, "2020 as the Year of Inclusion. Doing things and making efforts to get more people hunting and thinking about hunting and its role in conservation. I am excited my middle daughter will be 12 this February and has expressed an interest in bowhunting!!! I cannot wait to go on some hunts with her and have her in one of my Bowhunter Ed. Classes."

I don't have demographic data on our membership, but I bet my guess would be fairly accurate. We truly are a niche group in a dying sport, and anything we do to boost hunting and add to the ranks helps saddles.

I have plans to get a buddy out turkey hunting this spring that never has and plan to scout with another buddy in texas when I'm down there for work to get him into it. Probably good for the sport but man it sucks being the only one that hunts. Not sure they'll make it to saddles but baby steps

Hopefully it is the year that we see more posts about cool diy projects like the climber from @Mr Price , the 3oz game hoist from @mtsrunner, @Nutterbuster astrialpin/web tether, whoever came up one sticking, the wraptor from @Bwhana etc. And hopefully it's the year of fewer posts about keto journeys, poetry, yoga and other non-hunting things.

It wasn't just me on the climber. My best friend and brother @BrowninG77 Had his part as well. But thanks for the compliment.
