2024 Off-Season Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

He's got me *trying* to get to at least 3500 calories a day. I feel like garbage forcing that much food down and I think the best I've done is 26-2800 in a day and all I want to do is lay on the couch and nap like it's Thanksgiving.
I started at 3800 & was in the same boat, talk to him about it. Eating ain’t my full time job. You really need to be lifting a lot & have big bulk goals for that calorie load. But just work through it & see what he’s trying to accomplish

I just averaged my daily energy burned, it's 3546/cals/day over the last 11 months. I do not work out a lot and I especially don't want to bulk up though. Hard for me to imagine getting that many calories down in a day, let alone or I eat how I want to... haha, I think

Not trying complain, I know I am. Sorry

Edit: it appears fitbit might be wildly over estimating how many calories I'm burning, and that would explain a lot of the problem.

I get ya, here’s a shot of where I’m at currently. If I go over slightly on calories or fats I’m fine with that just making sure to hit protein goal every day & I try not to exceed carbs. It’s difficult to perfectly hit each of those targets consistently. This is by no means a perfect method but I’m down over 20lbs & more solid than when I started back up 2 months ago. I’m done with 75Hard this Friday & will keep a handful of things in place but will drop off some of the busy work. View attachment 101590
What app is that?

What app is that?
It’s the 1st Phorm app, it’s good but pricey. Like 13$/month but that’s what my buddy was using as we did this challenge. You get chat access to a trainer & they monitor & discuss goals/ progress weekly. I’ve been considering switching to another one called carbon few bucks cheaper per month…… I’ll let you know. Overall this one has been good you can scan food or copy meals from another day previously to current ( that’s a must for me for tracking bc I hate to track, also don’t like paying for stuff……. So I make sure I use it)

6 miles today. Felt harder than it should have/ran a bit too fast, but it's another run in the books. Not sure if I'm ready for the summer, 78 felt hot lol I need to start getting out in the AM more.

Kudos to you guys that can log all your food and stuff that's some good dedication. I struggle with keeping track of anything, only reason I know my run info is because my watch automatically saves it for me.

I despise it, but needed a baseline, plus it helps for some accountability with others in the house….

Good workout last night. Thankfully he agreed I should just go back to eating how I was, whew!! Probably going to start picking up a Saturday workout on the 20th. A neighbor asked if he could come running next time I go, that should be interesting. I'm bad at saying no

There aint a lick of sausage or bacon on no dang turkey.

Monday was 8 rounds of 200 meter rows, 10 db snatches 55#db, 8 box step ups, 10 db hang cleans same db.

Yesterday I slacked. Lead 2 seminars a couple hours out of town and didnt get back home til 6:30ish and the Hogs were playing baseball.

How do you runner guys pace yourselves? Just keep an eye on your watch? I know mine displays current pace, and I'm pretty sure avg pace below that

it starts with that yes but after a certain amount of time you get the feel for different paces. I am not nearly as good at staying even paced as I was back in the day, but it's coming back. A lot of the watches you can set a workout pace and it'll beep at you if you stray too far from the pace too if you want. Then you don't have to check all the time just wait to get beeped at.

Back to 8'43" today. I tried to take a nap after work, after gym day on less than zero motivation ( it's supposed to rain tomorrow) I'll take a tie with my fast time. Not sure the pace on my watch helped a ton but I did think to check it. Still just looking to be consistent at this point, 4 for 4 working out so far this week!

Nice work. @Horn did you make yourself your own superhero logo? Lol I like the new avatar

Edit: 4.5 on treadmill tonight. Legs felt pretty dead, likely pushed too hard Mon/Tues. Tomorrow is a rest day

Bad workout yesterday. Plan was 5 rounds running 15 flights of stairs, 10 db touch and go cleans 75# and 20 push ups. 4th rep w/ left arm clean on the 3rd round felt a little pop in my low back/top of hip. Went ahead and did the last rep but bout went to a knee putting the db down. Decided I better switch to supported bent rows using a bow for the last 2 rounds and did that reasonably ok. Running the stairs for the last 2 rounds was really uncomfortable. Getting in the truck was not good but then I cooled down. Where dem aleves??? Only ever done this one other time and that was getting a 3 wheeler out of a ditch by myself after the front wheel balled up with gumbo and caused me to slide into the ditch. Not sure what I will be able to do today, likely walk on the treadmill at full incline.

Had me a jumbo bbq sammich and watched the Hogs pay baseball this evening. Prolly try to get in a few miles walking today while I let this low back thing heal up a bit more. Might go to the gym but it will have to be stuff like pull ups, dips, curls.

I've been slacking since Wednesday. Concert last night and not feeling extra motivated today but I'm going to go climb and shoot today, probably put a few miles in doing that. If I don't run today, I definitely will first thing tomorrow.

edit: did a 3 mile hike/ scout today with a full pack on. Best part was when the log I was trying to use to cross the river broke and I got wet lol. Just buoyant enough to keep my phone and wallet dry! Made it an easy decision to just wade across to get back to the truck after that :tearsofjoy:
