I thought about this a little more and I’d only use the waist leg loop tie in if I was directly tying into the rope or girth hitching a daisy chain. Any time anchoring to a locking carabiner I’d use the belay loop.
Hey thanks. Ya I want to get away from a linemans belt as well. Too dangerous for me.

How has the micro cam cleat been working?
Ascenders are for ascending.Great video @nature tamer. So you don't use an ascender at all? Only the distal hitch?
I would use the Kong Duck if you are going to be using a 8mm rope with a mechanical ascender.
I'm a huge fan of Dano. But Wild edge offers a sewn eye oplux which could save you a knot
I just ordered a prusik tender from Dano. Hope this makes it possible to make one handed adjustments. Really like to hear more about this from people that have tried it.
A Blake’s hitch can be tied with the same diameter rope ie 8mm-8mm works well and will consistently grab and release easy.
It constricts over time and loading.I'm new to this whole thing, but after seeing this post I did some digging... Why doesn't the Blake's hitch get more love? Seems like a relatively simple answer to all the questions floating around about trying to find a smaller diameter prusik cord that meets spec. Is it really that much more bulky than other smaller diameter friction locks and a biner? Seems like you could do a Blake's hitch on the tether with either a sewn/spliced eye or eight on a bight connected to the belt and be good to go with the same rope used for the tether and lmb. What am I missing?

By no means is it unusable. But none of these knots require special hardware, and most of the others don't require periodic redressing. Everything is a tradeoff. If you're ok with redressing, blakes is a nice, predictable, easy to use hitch.I use one every single day, all day. When it starts to constrict just take a minute and loosen it. It’s a simple but very effective knot that doesn’t require special hardware.
I bought a 12' piece and ended up with a 9'+ tether. If you want 7' I'd go with 10'.If I'm ordering oplux for a 7’ lineman's rope, how many feet do I need, taking into consideration knots on both end and girth hitched around one lineman loop of the saddle? 13’?

I'll do some checking. I'm having some sewn eye tethers made up so I'll see if they can do some eye & eyes for OpLux.
Still waiting, no word yet.@DanO did you ever get anywhere with this? Just curious.
