Aider/Loop attached to Rope Steps

I use a 5 step Etrier connected to a Muddy stick and it keeps it out away from the tree so getting your feet in the loops is not quite so difficult. I tried an experimental climb using my system using the Guidos Web and it is working out well.
That is wha

this what I did last year. Worked well.

Ok, so like I said my original idea was a rope ladder. Let us say that this cam buckle idea at the top and bottom of the etrier works. Now what if we made a custom etrier that was say 20-25 foot long? And we just added cam buckles at head height as we climbed up?

Let me know what you think or if I need to explain it better.

What about the all mighty whoopi sling?
Having a pocket full of a couple whoopi slings with a small biner to join the loops together may be the ticket for this application.

You'd probably want a block or spacer of some sort at each sling or buckle hook up point to keep your etrier slightly away from the tree trunk as you climb.

I'm watching this thread, it has some serious potential.

I run 2 aiders and 2 lw sticks. I use aider on a cranford from the ground and then once on the cranford I set my first stick. Once at the top of that stick I hang the next cranford as high as I can and put on the second aider. Repeat with second stick and then platform on top of the stick. Key with aiders is pointing your toe towards the tree center and getting the aider in your foot arch by the heel. I can get 18-20' normally.

I stopped using the aider on a cranford step a while ago because i couldn't get my aider to hang well from it consistently and because the cranford step is so small. Did you solve for this xped? Could you post a pic please? Thx.

Wow this is from so long ago. We've come up with so many ideas since then I would have to rethink this.

Just stumbled on this thread. Could you use a hardened eye bolt maybe 6" to attach your aider to use a ezkut drill to get it started. You could leave out the amount of bolt needed to get your foot in aider and have one top and bottom to get rid of swing.

Another brainstorm don't have many. Use screw in step to start eye bolt and have short something to use as lever to screw the bolt in.

So I had to do this pretty fast so the boy can get to practice. Aider wrapped around step as shown ensures aider isn't against tree and leaves gap. Rubberband girth hitched around solid ring on cranford step. Rubber band also serves to wrap up aider after and keeps step and aider in one package. Rubberband prevents aider from sliding off end of step. I carry several extra rubber bands in case on snaps. cheap, light and serves its purpose. Nothing fancy or sexy about it. Just works for me.

I use the step as a hold while working up. I start the lw stick 6" above the cranford step. It settles a few inches when weight is set.

Next cranford is set from the top of the lw stick. It goes without saying being tied in is a must on this system.

Once on second stick I set platform even with middle step. I have tied a tether of 550 cord to the bottom aider so I can lift and secure so it's not flapping around at the bottom of the tree

Thanks for doing that xped. I appreciate the pics and explanation. Thinking of trying this again with new aiders I made... thanks for rekindling.
