So just built out a one stick with ewo parts, a monarch angled platform, sewn 3 step aider. It’s amazing. I’d messed around with a hawk stick and cam cleat before but this feels much more solid on the tree.
A few new questions: planned on climbing with my rappel rope as tether. Seems easy enough to tend slack until I get to the lower step and platform. Tried breaking out lineman’s belt as well as moving the girth hitch up when I’m on the stick/ platform. What do most people do to minimize slack in the set up?
Advancing the tether: how is the most smooth way to do this? No ohm tether yet, but can see the value of that. Wearing some gloves and just putting slack in the hitch, raising, then locking in place with nite eyze tie. Do some type of handles on the girth hitch look help much?
So far liking it. Had been rappelling down already so comfortable hanging and manipulating sticks. Think it’ll be a good method if I keep practicing. Certainly like that it’s one set of equipment and is pretty easily done.
Thanks for any tips!
