Anyone using a Bicycle?

gustafsj, what kind of trailer is that in your pic? I like how the bar wraps around the outside of the tire, may provide some protection to the wheels.

It was a Burley double trailer/stroller that I converted into a cargo trailer.

I found it on Craigslist for about $50, tore all the fabric off, cut it down with my pipe cutter. I also swapped out the tires for some knobby tires so I could get better float in muddy areas.

Worked better in theory than practice for me. If you already have one though it doesn't hurt to try. If there are hills you will end up pushing it. A lot of public in PA and Ohio doesn't allow it. I use mine for scouting and will say that with a saddle and a good bow holder it'd be much easier than with a stand. Still would only use it on flat land. Just wearing hunting clothes adds a lot more resistance and bulk near the pedals and chain so I haven't been successful with it for actually hunting to say the least. That is a sweet setup with the trailer though.

I use the sit stand saddle and the Primal version of the Stepp ladder that I modified with Amsteel. Point is that it is a pretty light set up to carry around on my back on the back. I keep the trailer in my vehicle. If my deer is a long ways away, I would go back, grab the trailer, unload unneeded weight and go back to get the deer.

Fat bike and if I can't carry/ride it out on my back forget it. No trailer or cart for me.

I have both a fat tire bike and a mountain bike. I can only use them at certain places due to rules and or lack of maintained trails.

The mountain bike is WAY better on well maintained trails, but it becomes almost worthless in sand or snow.

The fat tire handles the soft ground much better (I've had some close calls going downhill on sand though) but it's slower and more tiring to get around on hard packed ground because of the added friction.

When going up hills, I usually hop off and walk the bike up to avoid breaking a sweat, unless I'm scouting. Then I'll just power over the hills.

I lucked out on some company stock. It went from worthless to enough to cover the bike I want. So........I’ve purchased a Biktrix Jagernaut Ultra. It’s a pre order. I won’t see it til end of June or early July.

Ugh.... it’s a pre buy.

Keep me posted when you get it. I like to known how well it climbs steep hills and does it have a walk by mod.

I have a Radrover fat tire e-bike it goes up hills pretty good. My friend sold his Quite kat and got a Rambo 1000 watt bike. I have another friend who has a Rambo 750 watt bike and it does have alot of power and the gen 3 were on sale for $1599 from Rambo .Those mid drives are good hill climbers.

If it’s anything like my ebike it will climb just about anything as long as you can keep the front end down lol. Mine wants to flip over backwards! I have the 1500 watt motor on mine and 52v battery on it. It’s a hill climbing beast!

I don’t know what a “walk by mod” is.

This is the Bafang ultra. 1000w nominal, peak 1600w I believe.

It comes with a 48v. 14, 16 or 21 Ah. I bought a 16 Ah to keep the cost in my range. The batteries should last about 5 years with proper care and use.

These things are overbuilt. I has a weight capacity of 400 lbs.

I don’t plan on using a trailer at this point. The plan is to ride the deer out on the bike.

If that doesn’t work, I have a deer cart I can modify. Or, maybe buy a dead sled to tow behind.

Been eying up these e-bike conversion kits.

Thought it would be a cheaper alternative since my Trek I use for hunting is fairly new yet. Looks like a very easy conversion. Anybody else have any experience with this kit?

Walk by mod . There's usually a button you push and the bike moves and you can walk with it instead of pushing it. Works great when there are alot of down trees or limbs it let's the bike do the work.

That’s a cool option. I don’t know if it does.

I think so. I was outside talking to a neighbor when someone rode by with a different model by the same company. It really made an impression.

Still waiting for some ultra weight conscious guy to figure out a fat-tire electric unicycle that converts from "ride" mode to "pull my butt up the tree for me" mode.

Someone will figure out a Bluetooth controller, a way to anchor the bike and a pulley system off the rear wheel. Zoooom!

I ordered one of the e-bike conversion kits today. For a fraction of the cost of a dedicated e-bike it's a great way to get into it. Looked like the 30K 250 Series would work perfect for me. The reviews look really good and they have a special till the end of today (May 31) at 10% off everything. The code is MEMORIAL2019. Looking forward to seeing how this kit works. I didn't want a full blown e-bike so this is a great option. A little assist will be nice when fully loaded down with hunting gear. The 500 Series is better suited to those who need more power or ability to climb steeper hills.
