I travel all over the country with firearms and bows via airline.
I use the Pelican Bow case and have never had an issue with anything inside the case.
I have always used Pelican cases for firearms but have just migrated to the Magpul rifle cases and will never use the Pelican cases again for firearms.
The Apache case will be just fine for a single trip. If you are worried about your firearms being "loose" in the Apache case and you can't cut the foam to fit, just take your hunting clothing or any clothing you are traveling with and wrap your firearms with it. If that can't work, get some towels from the closet and use them as extra padding. I have seen people take bubble wrap and ise that to fill space also on cases that are loose. I usually just use my hunting clothing, socks, gloves, jackets or whatever to put in there. It also saves space in your other luggage as well.
Make sure you have the proper amount of locks for the Apache case as well. Do not bother locking it until after the check in agent says to lock it up, otherwise you end up unlocking it right there at check in only to re lock it a few seconds later. Try not to have a lock that takes a key and go for the combo lock option instead. Many men have lost the single key for their cases while traveling. The combo lock is in your brain. Nothing to lose there, right?
