I must say this is one comfortable minimalist saddle, I am new to the saddle world but, I had no problem sitting/leaning for 8 hours. I could have gone longer. Simply love the saddle. I am one sticking with a hawk Helium 20in stick cut down to 16in with a hawk platform and three step aider. I just got some new RNA Ape Canyon Outfitters 9.5mm Ghillie Climbing rope that I will be switching to next climb. The hawk Helium stick has been working well so far but, I really want a Trophyline Wingman.

You want a Trophy Line Wingman, more gear, wow, you are going to fit in well with this crowd, :)

Ok guys. Just received my new Ape Canyon saddle and I already see something I don't like. I didn't realize the leg straps attached the way they do. Either I'm missing something or I'm going to have to thread these every time I put the saddle on or I have to leave them attached and step through them? Cutting them off is not an option as I like to wear my leg straps. Gives me a little more peace of mind. Thoughts everyone.New Saddle.jpg

Correct. You slip the square through the square, basically. @John RB shows the attachment in his review video. It’s not complicated or difficult but it’s definitely not as easy as a click-in buckle or g-hook. John leaves them attached with zip ties but I’m with you, I hate stepping into leg straps. They offer an upgrade with cobra buckles, it’s listed for $240ish I think. Maybe they’d swap for you with some cash on top.

I didn't think I would like them either but, I found it easy to attach. I just attach them but not around my leg when I walk in and tuck the remainder in the leg strap bungee keeper. Then loosen the bungee unbuckle go round my leg and buckle. You could add cobra buckles pretty easily.

Aaaah! I think I do recall seeing that method of attachment. Duh! I'll give it a good test run before I make any judgment on them. Thanks.
Similar buckles on my Black Diamond RCH and they are a non-issue to put on or take off. I actually way prefer them to the G-hooks. Almost as fast and way less fiddle factor with keeping them properly adjusted.

The whole minimalist saddle leg strap thing is why I sold my TX5 Minimalist and killdeer. I hate having to thread the leg straps through and I'm not leaving them and stepping through. I just went back to using a regula saddle with my LWCG stands.

How does the camo material feel? I believe it’s one piece correct? I think my kestrel is two different pieces sewn together and it had me curious how rugged/durable the ape canyon saddle is.
