Ar build

AR slings in the saddle. What works what doesn't?? Will need something. Best way to raise and lower weapon. What do I need?? I have nothing ATM to work with.
Dual point sling, that can’t tightened or loosened to either store close to body or extended to be able to raise and shoot with sling still around you. I don’t hunt with AR but if I would I’d do the same as I do with my rifle just sling it tight on back and climb.

The options are kind of overwhelming. Single-point slings are very common and very frustrating, but they probably work OK in a saddle. My preference is an adjustable 2-point sling. I prefer the front attachment to be on the handguard as close to the magwell as possible, and the rear attachment in line with the receiver extension. Either on a receiver end plate or on the stock. QD slings are nifty but they have the bad habit of disconnecting themselves so I've taken to using HK hooks if I want to be able to easily disconnect it (slings and gun safes don't mix well) and just weaving it through the triglides if i don't. Paracord makes excellent forend sling attachment points.

I was looking at the QD attachment. Coming off in the saddle was a big concern for me. I have that kinda luck. So this is the style stock I have on the back. So the ones with the triglide on one end, and then you use some Paracord to attach on the front?? Girth hitch a loop? Or run it thru an opening. I'll have to look at the barrel and see what's there.

I'd route the webbing through the slots on the bottom left of your picture. Assuming it fits with the stock in place. With a Magpul stock I assume you have a magpul forend, I'll find a picture of what I would do.

QD’s are legit, I’ve used them in intense combat and have never had one pop out.for the rear that looks like a hogue or similar which I have and I run it through over top, never have the sling run across the shoulder part.

I've had a few QDs let go on me, thankfully on the range. Used both Magpul and GrovTec; went all-in on them about 12 years ago on a bunch of different long guns. I think I still have 1 or 2 in use but I've gradually been reverting to either lacing the sling directly to the rifle or the old-school Uncle Mike's swivels, but I'm recently starting to employ the HK hooks. I put a sling with an Uncle Mike's swivel on my xbow and tore my T-shirt up while leaning against the toe of the stock while cocking it. Pulled the swivel and tied a Turk's head on the "buffer tube" with 2" loop, with lanyard knot. To attach an HK hook or catch a soft shackle or girth hitch. If I decide I want a totally-silent all-paracord sling.

I don’t use a sling, I simply tie a loop of paracord up front and hang the rifle from that on an EZ Hanger.

The rifle is plenty compact enough to strap to my pack for carrying.

Things move slow when u poor boy.....bit the bullet and just paid the dude the money and he installed 300blk barrel. He swapped it between multiple lowers and says it functioning correctly. I got pair of 5 round magazines while I was picking the upper up. Hopefully Sunday I can go shoot some and verify everything working as it should....stupid ar15

@Weldabeast did you try different mags with that 350? I'd have a failure to feed on my BCA 450 once and awhile and I figured out the mags I was using didn't chamber the round properly. I settled on a Lancer mag and follower and cleared the problem up. The straight walled cartridges can be a bit tricky on an AR but they're fun to tinker with.

So I'm the type person who will most always fix/attempt to fix most anything but there are some things I just rather hire it done.....this was 1 of the things I just didn't have any desire to tinker with. I have multiple mags and could have started modifying magazines but just kinda didn't want to. I don't have a place I can readily go to shoot and also not that much free time to be going to the public range about an hours drive away. I asked dude the cheapest, quickest, easiest way to have a functioning firearm that's good for killing deers and stuff and followed his suggestions

I didn't realize the 300 blk was a deer slayer. After seeing a few videos of them falling over dead. I'm convinced.

Not just the 300 blk but modestly powered rounds in general are much more effective than they're given credit for ASSUMING proper bullet selection. In my opinion, hunters in the past had to rely more on power to make up for lagging bullet design. As bullet design has progressed there isn't as much need for big energy numbers to be effective. Even the 35 Remington I hunt with now because of primitve weapons laws feels excessive compared to what I used to hunt with on private land (357 Max, 7-30 waters, 7BR, etc).

The trick with qd sling attachments is to pay for the good ones. BCM makes about the best I’ve used. I shoot drills a couple times a week and have never had a BCM qd pop out. I have had a few of the cheaper ones pop on me. Magpul makes a pretty good one too. And I use a two point sling, front of sling mounted close to magwell on handguard, rear mounted to the qd socket on the stock. Allows me to keep my rifle slung across my chest for sneaking around. Of course I make my own slings that are quick adjust.

I was able to blast off 20 rounds....no malfunctions. Hopefully all this crap rectified
I make it out to put some more thru it and get the scope back on and zeroed

Got to shoot some over the weekend....I put the scope back on and had it back on target in 7 shots. Point of impact was about 5" lower with the 300bo vs the 350L. Zeroed at 50, then checked at 100...hits where u point it. Put 60 rounds thru and no malfunctions. I think it's fixed......stupid AR

Blasted a dillo at 130yds....hehehe

Quick derailment here…what piece of hardware are you using for the adjuster? Looks like a heavy tri-glide? I’ve cobbled together a couple of these type slings but have never been happy with the adjuster hardware…mine seem too easy to break, though I haven’t actually broken one…yet.. thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction!

It’s one of the nexus triglides I use on the leg straps of saddles. Nexus makes the best plastic hardware I’ve found. Definitely not going to break on you. I put a pull tab on it and it adjust easily.
