Best Pack for Saddle Hunting

https://store.mossyoak.com/mossy-oak-pegtooth-day-pack-i-10011825

This mossy oak pegtooth daypack has been my favorite pack. It's light and just the perfect size for my saddle hunting needs. It fits my modified hawk heliums perfectly. Right side pocket has my Doyle's gear hoist (I don't even have to open it to access/utilize it). Left side pocket holds my range finder, TP, and wind indicator. Middle pocket holds my binos. Top exterior pocket holds my headlamp, bow release, and gear rope with cliptor. Inner top mesh pocket holds my grunt call and battery pack. Then I throw my predator platform in the main compartment and my saddle when I don't want to wear it in. I seriously love this pack. Great price too! View attachment 9472View attachment 9473

Glad you posted this because I did not know this pack existed and it looks like it has everything I am looking for at a good price. Is there any kind of internal frame on this pack? Hard to tell from what I have found.

I'm told if there is one place not to go cheap for my mountain hunt, its boots. I'm going to heed that advice and not wear my Lacross Alpha burleys to hike thru the mountains. Whatever pack i get will have to be a cheapie for now
If you're needing to stay fairly cheap but you're going on a mountain hunt, you may wanna look at just getting a load shelf and strapping a bag to it.. you're going to need something to carry meat out.. (hopefully).. something like Cabelas Outfitter pack or Alpz Outsdoors Commander Frame.... I'd lean towards the Alpz but the Cabelas is cheaper.. either way.. you're going to want a load carrier and maybe you have a big duffel back that you can make work or something..

Hey guys,

I'm new to saddle hunting, and completely switching over all of my gear from being a preset stand, or hang on stand hunter, to being a mobile hunter. I've purchased Wild Edge Stepps and now I'm looking into Pack options. Wondering if any of you have a suggestion? I've been using my Mystery Ranch Pintler pack, but I feel it's too big, and now I won't be strapping on sticks or a stand, so I don't need something quite so large. Also, I want to limit my silhouette in the tree so I'm looking for something smaller. The two I've looked at is the ASAT Coyote Fanny Pack, and the KUIU Venture 1800. Mystery Ranch makes the treehouse but it's a lot of $$. Just looking for thoughts, since I live in the middle of nowhere all my purchases are online, and I really don't get the opportunity to look at things in person. Thanks a lot!
I run a MR Popup28 once mid season sets in to carrier cold weather gear... I'm in MN... I'm going to go minimal this year for early season and go with something similar to th 5.11 Rush 24 above... I'll be getting some Kydex and making a holster for my wild edge steps over the summer and then rigging to attach it to my pack but be able to transfer it to my hip during the climb.

No internal frame in it. I used it for the past two seasons and still like it.

I use a Kuiu divide pack. My predator platform fits between the pockets and my sticks align nicely with the outside of the pack. My sticks are only 10” long, though. Might be a little awkward with full length sticks7619A4B2-8AC9-4C23-A16C-DFAA302E8743.jpeg

I’m running the Sitka fanatic pack. Great pack, but with a little more rigidity and a waste belt... it would be perfect. I’ve been thinking of swapping to the Pioneer 1000 by Vangaurd. Only $59 through their website at the moment vs $119 retail. Depending on your climbing method, this could be something worth looking at.
