My family played this interesting game we got for Christmas called "Would You Rather".
These threads/posts make me think of a card that would fit with this game and relate to the evolution of the saddle hunting world over the last couple years.
So....Would you rather:
1) have a small, tight knit, DIY-based saddle hunting community?
or
2) lots of commercially available saddle stuff?
My apologies if this stirs controversy. To me it is a legitimate question with reasonable differences of opinion. The OPs question about Boswell seems related to the two choices (not meant to hijack thread). Moderators feel free to shut it down if you think this kind of discussion undesirable.

I used to frequent this forum quite often although I did not post a lot. Now there is enough nonsense that a don't come on here like I used to.
I think I miss the diy aspect the most. As a forum we have trended away from diy and exchanged it for whining about wait times and giving much advise on how saddle producers should be running their companies.
The saddle hunting boom has brought in people that started partly due to the "Cool" factor and will likely never make it long term.
There I got all that out of my system. Lol...
Back on topic I never quite understood why certain individuals felt so threatened by a start up saddle company. Seems to me there were enough differences that it was a stretch to say it was a copy. As someone else mentioned you can only modify a diaper so much and it still be a diaper. The Mantis addressed a number of things that I felt were definite improvements over what was currently offered. Wish Bobby hadn't been so touchy.....
