"Climbing with bolts is slow and hard."

To keep it on topic.....nice video, I guess.....cuz I didn’t watch it, but my big ol’ butt won’t ever be going the bolt route

@DaveT1963 i just got some titanium bolts and I’m really liking them. I also use your hawk system. It is really a toss up because the hawks pack up really nice and they are pretty dang light. But nothing packs better then the bolt system. I’m about 190-200lbs. And feel safe on the titanium.

Thanks. But I already knew bolts are great, didn't need the vid to confirm that, but I do know there are lots of guys that learned a few things.
Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate and film. Guys, The only climb method that you can compare bolts, apples to apples, is screw-in steps. Every other method is not a true comparison.
So, compare bolts to screw-ins, any screw ins, and at the very minimum, bolts get the edge over the highest quality EZ Climb screw-ins. Compare bolts to Americrap screw-ins and it is no contest. Bolts win hands down.

Had a couple guys in my crowd that used bolts back in the early 90’s. I tried it and it wasn’t for me. It wasn’t so such the bolt breaking potential that bothered me as much as it was the getting mangled by the bolts while falling down the tree potential that bothered me (admittedly this was before any form of safety beyond prayer was used).

I figure they're all means to the same end. Worth comparing everything.

And bolts remind me plenty of various other hacks like lag bolts, nails, etc. Just better.

Like comparing a mountain bike to a sports car. Yeah they both get you from A to B, they are both modes of transportation. But you aint driving the Ferarri down the trail and you aint riding the bike on the interstate.
Sticks, spurs, SRT, etc all have their place, they get you up the tree. But where legal, with all else considered, bolts are my choice. I hate carrying sticks. Hate unpacking them, hate trying to climb with 3 or 4 of them, hate undoing and repacking after the hunt, hate the fact I don't want to leave $150 worth of sticks in the woods...yeah, I hate sticks. I will use them when required, but I seldom have to resort to them.

How are they any less safe than screw in steps?

Nothing says “efficiency” like a 30 minute video about drilling a hole in a tree to stick a bolt in

I bet when you see another Bammer on the street you say “ever since I was a kid I have been a proponent of the alternate rising and falling of the sea, diurnal in most cases, but along the gulf it’s......well it could urnal or maybe monournal or is uniurnal? I need to look into that because it is confusing and speaking of confusing what happens down around the keys where the two tide cycles meet? Wait, maybe it doesn’t happen there and instead it happens in what is described as the Bermuda Triangle and it’s the two cycles clashing that’s causing all the chaos over there? Weird......moving over in a particular direction about its axis” followed by a head nod.

Wow, the knowledge in me wants to answer all of these questions, but the wisdom in me tells me it’s best not to. It’ll only confuse the fella more.... lol

So I’ll stay on topic, what’s better for getting a squirrel out the top of a tall pine tree when that shotgun can’t reach it from the ground, bolts or spurs?

Couldn't tell ya, I hunt hardwoods. :) But a load of high brass #5s will spank a squirrel right outta the top of a swamp chestnut. And when the shot spooks his buddy out of the scraggly maple next to it and he's boogyin' through the jungle like Spiderman on meth, you can spank him too.

Man, you guys don't like squirrels! Some days in the tree that's all I got to watch. Didn't have much action with the whitetail in North West Indiana this year.

Cause I had convinced myself they were, lol
Man, I've been climbing with screw ins for 40 years now...the thought of being ripped open or catching "the boys" on one during a fall has scared me from day one. But a guy's gotta to what a guy's gotta do in order to kill deer with a 20 yard weapon.
