Cranford EZY Scaffold Clanking

I recently bought the cranford scaffold. I’m very happy with how it holds and it’s compact design. I am however, worried about how loud it is clanking together when wrapping it around the tree. What is the best way to dampen the noise? I have read vet tape works well but I feel it will rip off easily? What are the best cheap options to dampen the noise?

I’ve used the vet tape. It’s more durable than it seems; however, does wear out. Fortunately it is cheap enough and a roll goes a long way if you cut it into 1” wide strips.

Anyone have pics of how they applied the vet tape? Did it work much to quiet them down?

I just wrapped them around however I could and it seems to work really well. I used a little over one roll for 5 steps.

I coated mine with a couple coats of flex seal spray and then hockey tape ! worked well so far def quieted them, I think bed liner spray would be more durable as that is what I did with some steel climbing sticks that I welded up .

If I was going to use them I would just cut a hole in a kids sock and then slip them over the step when manipulating them. I used to do this with Ameristeps and it was cheap and effective. I had a video somewhere. I tried stealth strips and tape but that wears off from constant use - kids socks takes 3 seconds to prep and replace and are available everywhere.

here's the video

I've used vet tape on 2 out of the 4 that I have, but I found the biggest noise eliminator is not wrapping them around the tree. I stand on my 2nd to last step of my stick and set all four scaffolds against the tree directly in front of me with the ratchet buckle in my right hand with only 3-4 inches of strap exposed between the ratchet and steps. I then lean against the folded up steps against the tree, holding them in place, while I run the strap around the tree with my left hand and thread the ratchet buckle. I'm able to pull the strap snug and then can lean back and maneuver the steps around the tree before ratcheting down tight. No noise from clanging steps at all during the process.
