Cranford Rope Steps and Aiders

Even at 18 feet it still has a good feet to pound ratio. I’m thinking those that are going to use the ultralight sticks with multiple step aiders could do something like this with a 10 inch stick with a double bottom step but no top step.
You could use a cranford step and aider for your last move. The cranford step would only be used when you wanted extra height and did not bring enough short sticks.

not sure if any of you have had issues with the Cranford steps, but I have had the steel hook on the cranford bend. These are the only steps that I have had let loose on me while climbing. Linesman belt saved me that time. I do not know why it let loose, but it wasn't pleasant. I still have a couple in my bin, but have not used them since going back to LW steps. the reason I had used them, was to lighten the load, could put a bunch in my fanny pack and they worked for me for a number of years.

Or just keep the aider at the bottom of your pack that day and get to up to 22.5 feet with six. Many of my sets are less than 20 feet in swamps and marshes.

My first post on here.... so hello! I think I will save an intro for another post, but for now I am a newbie looking into saddle hunting.

Anyway, I like the Stepps and have been looking at them so when you said you can reach 22.5ft. with 6 of them I was intrigued. Isn't that nearly 4ft between each step? That isn't too much distance?

Not a problem. Just push off the tree and step up to the stepp. There are a lot of methods that work with that particular stepp spacing. Welcome to the forum!

I use two Cranford ezy steps and two aiders to get up to 14'. I haven't found an easier or faster way to get up a tree. I want to try climbing spurs next.
