Sometimes a seatbelts saves you, othertimes it doesnt.... still recommend wearing one.

I will always wear a lineman's belt. I just won't treat it as a fall arresting device and only as a fall prevention device. I just see some people (I was one until a few years ago) who falsely assume it will catch when you slip like it does when you fall backward.

you can cross the leads to make it more effective but it does slow down the climb up and down

Be careful of blindly following the instructions of "experts" posting on the internet or anywhere for that matter. If it looks like it could break it probably will sooner or later. This is not meant as a condemnation just as a general principle.

Agreed. I tried one of my friends Helium’s and I had a sore on my left hand for like a month.

I make it a point to wear gloves climbing with my heliums.

Its nice that you posted this. It's helpful to guys to hear about failures and double-check their set ups. It's clear to anyone that reads what you posted that was your intention and you weren't blaming anyone else for what happened.

I make it a point to wear gloves climbing with my heliums.

I wrap my Helium steps in electrical tape, then camo vet tape. Helps camouflage them and improves comfort vs. jagged edges and cold weather...

Glad you are ok. For guys doing the stick mods, are you putting two steps in the bottom and at the top or just one step on the bottom to lessen the weight?

Most I have seen kept the double step setup and only remove 1 of the 3 pairs. I did see a post on a Facebook group where a guy used left over steps to make sticks with tubing. He placed the steps similar to Lone Wolf and XOP sticks using grade 8 bolts as stops for the steps. The steps only flip to one side instead of both sides.
